ISB's history began in 1996 in a rented building with a total of just 17 students to meet the needs of the English-speaking community. Within a couple of years, the school had grown in both size and scope. In order to serve an increasingly mobile international community, the curriculum gradually took into consideration the practices and requirements of a number of different systems. In 2001 the School became the first CIE Exam centre of Romania in order to run IGCSE examinations. The step of becoming a CIE exam centre and the school offering an IGCSE and AS/A level programme has further influenced the multicultural outlook of teachers and students. Despite separating the Primary School to a different campus in 2003, rapid expansion saw enrolment grow to around 350 students by 2004. This encouraged the school to seek new premises, so a purpose-built campus opened in 2008 in a green area in the eastern part of Bucharest. Ever since, ISB has offered on these premises a state-of-the-art learning environment, on-site sports facilities and a conference hall as well as a cafeteria. Our School has been fully accredited by CIS (Council of International Schools) since August 2012. ISB is an IB World School authorized to offer the Diploma Programme from September 2017 onwards. Due to the support of an exceptionally close community, the future of ISB promises to be an exciting one.

Book and Cook Club – Kit’s Banana Split 🍌🍨
This week in Book and Cook Club, our EYFS and Year 1 children enjoyed reading Kit’s Banana Split. After sharing the story together, it was time for our young chefs to create their very own delicious banana splits!

The children began by carefully cutting their bananas before adding scoops of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry ice cream. Then came the most exciting part — decorating! They added fruit and chose from a selection of tasty toppings, including caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, colourful sprinkles and whipped cream.

The children had lots of fun making their own choices and getting creative with their desserts. Once their banana splits were complete, there was only one thing left to do — taste them! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed eating their delicious creations.

Book and Cook Club is a wonderful way to bring stories to life through practical, hands-on experiences. This week's activity encouraged the children to follow a sequence of instructions, make independent choices and develop their fine-motor skills, while also building confidence and having lots of tasty fun!

🌍 Strengthening International Connections! 🇳🇴🤝

On September 30 and October 1, ISB proudly welcomed nine teachers and school leaders from Norlights International School, Norway, for an inspiring two-day educational exchange.

Through student-led campus tours, leadership meetings, classroom observations, and discussions on IB PYP, student wellbeing, Enrichment, and Eco Initiatives, educators shared ideas, practices, and perspectives.

The visit concluded with a warm Q&A, reflecting on key takeaways, new professional friendships, and future opportunities for collaboration.

A huge thank you to our wonderful PTA, who went above and beyond to make sure our dedicated teachers felt truly special and appreciated. 🏺✨ Art Corner: A Journey to Ancient Egypt! ✨🏺

This week, our Year 4 students travelled back in time to explore the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt! 🇪🇬

The children discovered how papyrus was made and had a go at creating their very own versions. They then brought their papyrus to life by decorating it with Ancient Egyptian figures, symbols, and patterns, inspired by the incredible artwork of the time. 🎨📜

It was a fun, creative, and hands-on way to bring art and history together — and our young artists did a fantastic job! 🌟
