You ask a question. The student starts answering.

Halfway through the sentence, you correct them. They finish it anyway. But quieter.

And next time you ask a question, they hesitate a little longer before raising their hand.

This is what happens when every mistake gets corrected the moment it appears: students stop taking risks. They start choosing the safe sentence instead of the one they actually wanted to say.

Error correction isn't a reflex. It's a decision, knowing when to correct on the spot, and when to note it down and come back to it once the student has finished their thought.
