The International Association of Online Engineering (IAOE) and Transilvania University of Brașov have awarded a letter of appreciation to the Center for Complexity Studies team, validating our sustained effort and the growing international reach of this work.

Looking ahead, our commitment remains the same: to refine and continuously expand the Scientific Jam Session methodology in Exploratory Research — an original Romanian framework for fostering scientific creativity and transdisciplinary innovation in future international research collaborations.

Between July 31st and August 7th, 2026, the Center for Complexity Studies (CSC) joined the 37th edition of Atlantykron on the ephemeral island of Inelul de Piatră near Capidava. Rooted in a vibrant science-fiction tradition, this remarkably open-minded and imaginative community serves as an Asimovian sanctuary—an isolated haven for lateral thinking and non-conformist ideas, where living close to nature meets cutting-edge exploration.

Within this creative environment, the CSC set up a live, working laboratory to demonstrate how new knowledge emerges while actively cultivating the Being of the researcher. The CSC advances its core mission through two synchronized upgrades:

- Upgrading the Being: Using practical philosophy to train researchers in critical thinking, openness, and transcending binary logic.

- Upgrading the Scientific Framework: Advancing complexity science and transdisciplinarity to navigate different levels of reality.

By broadening the concept of "home" beyond concrete walls to encompass the biosphere, geosphere, and noosphere, the CSC aligns the conscious observer with the living environment, transforming how we construct future knowledge.

We were happy to be back on the island, the unique space where art and science meet, complement, and amplify each other!

Atlantykron 2026 : A Community Adventure in Exploratory Research

Here is a look back at our journey during the 37th edition of Atlantykron (July 31 – August 7) on the island of Inelul de Piatră, Capidava! Scroll through to relive the experience step by step—and stay tuned, as more photos and updates are coming soon!

First, we were happy to be back, to meet old friends and to set up camp on the ephemeral island. During the first days and on our breaks, we took the time to reconnect with the open-minded, creative community, to cool off in the Danube, and to share ideas in the shade of the trees.

Starting August 1st we were set up and started several activities at the CSC tent and the academy amphitheatre:

• Philosophical Café: The engaging sessions led by Anca Berlo trained participants in critical thinking, and aimed at transcending binary logic while cultivating the Being of the researcher through philosophy, seen as a way of life.

• "Can We Talk to the Forest?" Live Laboratory: Conceived by Eugen Danciu, the open-science live experiment bridged technology and nature through bioelectric sonification. Using a custom Faraday cage to block environmental noise, Emil Canciu and Eugen Danciu captured subtle 5–30 kHz plant signals. Cristina Dinu-Popa led interactive PlantWave demonstrations where participants touched sensors to alter real-time soundscapes, translating the living bioelectric activity of local leaves and wild mushrooms into music.

• Keynote & Special Recognition: Dr. Ing. Florin Munteanu’s conference "BeyondThe Ontological Turn. Exploratory Research and the Architecture of the Future" on transdisciplinarity, the included middle, and levels of reality—marked by the special recognition diploma presented by Sorin Repanovici and the Atlantykron organizers for his 33+ years of dedication.

• A guest workshop: AI Animation: Eugen Demeterca’s hands-on session "Prompt. Image. Animation", where words turned into visual prompts and film sequences right before our eyes.

CSC at Atlantykron 37 | Horizons: Beyond Limits

The 21st century needs better questions, not just faster answers. During the first week of August, the Center for Complexity Studies returns to the island with bold ideas, practical philosophy, live exploratory research experiments and dialogues!

Here is what to expect:

Aug 3, 11:00 | Keynote: Dr. Florin Munteanu on Beyond "The Ontological Turn" — shaping the future of questions.

Aug 1-6, Live Exploratory Research Workshop: Can we talk with a Forest ? We will measure real-time bioelectric plant signals. Workshop is coordinated by Emil Canciu and Eugen Danciu, with support from Cristina Dinu-Popa and Anca Berlo and guidance from Florin Munteanu.

How Complexity Science is Redefining Forest Therapy and Human Health

The pristine, UNESCO-protected ancient beech forests of Strâmbu-Băiuț, Maramureș, recently served as the backdrop for a profound convergence of ecology, medicine, and advanced physics. On May 29–30, 2026, the second edition of the International Symposium on Forest Therapy (Simpozionul Internațional de Silvoterapie) brought together leading international researchers, foresters, and medical balneologists under the guiding motto: “Nature heals, and health begins in the forest.”

Organized by Asociația Multiculturală Johannes Banfi Hunyades in partnership with WWF Romania and supported by Băiuț Town Hall,the symposium aimed to ground the empirical, ancient practices of “forest bathing” (Shinrin-yoku) into concrete scientific frameworks.

Central to this mission were the back-to-back presentations delivered by the delegation from the Center for Complexity Studies (CSC), which introduced an entirely new, non-linear paradigm for understanding human healing and planetary ecology.

Can we mathematically prove how nature heals?
At the International Symposium on Forest Therapy, the CSC team redefined health.

Drd. Emil Canciu introduced DiMuSe, a geophysical-inspired algorithm proving that healing sounds and nature share an objective, structural fingerprint. Right after, Prof. Dr. Florin Munteanu scaled this to Gaia - The Living Planet perspective, framing forests as "Orthosensors"—living networks that actively preserve planetary coherence.
