📚 Book of the Week — The Adventures of Captain Hatteras by Jules Verne

This week, Costin took us on a frozen journey to the North Pole with Jules Verne's classic adventure novel. Captain Hatteras leads a daring and obsessive expedition through the Arctic — facing mutiny, deadly cold, and the limits of human will. A story that proves the most dangerous voyages are often driven by a single, burning idea. 🧭❄️

🎤 Cum se construiește stima de sine?

Marți seara am explorat împreună unul dintre cele mai importante subiecte din viața noastră — stima de sine. Ce este ea cu adevărat? Cum o construim? Și ce rol joacă experiențele, expunerea, feedback-ul și progresul în a deveni mai încrezători în noi înșine?

Am avut discursuri pregătite care ne-au provocat să reflectăm, Table Topics care ne-au testat spontaneitatea și evaluări care ne-au ajutat să creștem.
Felicitări tuturor celor care au urcat pe scenă! Fiecare discurs, oricât de scurt, este un pas în plus spre versiunea mai bună a ta.

📚 At this Tuesday’s meeting, Matei presented “Think Again: The Power of Knowing What You Don’t Know” by Adam Grant — a thought-provoking book about the importance of questioning our own assumptions and staying open to new ideas. 🧠

The book explores how flexible thinking and the ability to rethink our opinions can become real strengths, both in our personal and professional lives.

A reminder that growth often begins not when we have all the answers, but when we are willing to change our perspective. ✨

🦋🍎 This week’s meeting took us on a journey through the human body and the way digestion affects how we feel every day.

Starting from a simple question — “Why does your stomach hurt?” — we explored how certain foods can create discomfort, how digestion works, and what habits or choices may help improve our well-being. From apples to food sensitivities, the discussion brought together curiosity, practical ideas, and plenty of interesting perspectives. 🧠

And no, the butterflies were not about love this time 😉

Alongside the theme discussions, we also enjoyed speeches, evaluations, and the usual Toastmasters energy that turns every meeting into a learning experience 🎤✨

This week’s Toastmasters meeting was all about Coffee ☕ — a simple topic with more depth than it seems at first. We talked about how coffee influences our energy, focus, and even the way we communicate and react in daily life.

Of course, the evening also included a lively debate 🎤, where ideas were exchanged with energy, good arguments, and a bit of humor. From strong opinions to unexpected perspectives, coffee proved to be the perfect theme for a dynamic discussion.

Another evening of learning, public speaking, and great conversations — maybe with a little extra caffeine involved 😉

🎤✨ PEACE – Toastmasters București Meeting Recap 🕊️

This Tuesday, we explored the theme of Peace — looking at what peace has meant throughout history and sharing a few interesting facts and perspectives along the way.

The evening showed that peace is more than just silence or the absence of conflict. It can mean inner calm, balance between people, or a broader sense of harmony in society.

It was a thoughtful meeting, with different ideas and reflections that helped us look at this simple, but complex, topic from more than one angle. 🕊️

📚 Cartea săptămânii – „Bucuria vieții”

La ședința de marțea aceasta, Roxana ne-a prezentat cartea „Bucuria vieții” de Irving Stone, un roman biografic dedicat vieții și luptei interioare a lui Vincent van Gogh 🎨.

Cartea urmărește parcursul unui artist care a trăit intens, între pasiune, suferință și dorința profundă de a crea, chiar și atunci când recunoașterea lipsea. Este o poveste despre perseverență, sensibilitate și curajul de a-ți urma drumul, indiferent de obstacole.

O lectură care ne amintește cât de strâns pot fi legate arta, durerea și bucuria de a trăi.
