Hello everyone!

My name is Finn and I am a 12th grader at “George Cosbuc” National Bilingual College.
Regarding Model United Nations, Crisis is my all time favourite committee and I am honoured to be a chairperson alongside Gabi at this edition of Cosbuc MUN.

When it comes to myself, I am an extroverted, curious and open person as I am always looking forward to having new experiences.
Some of my biggest passions include
psychology, especially criminology as I am fascinated about how a criminal’s mind works, music, art, literature, photography and of course debate!

Introducing the CRISIS committee! ⚔️

The American Revolution was a pivotal political and military conflict in the late 18th century, culminating in the Thirteen Colonies’ declaration of independence from Great Britain. The revolution was motivated by growing colonial dissatisfaction with British policy, particularly concerns of taxation without representation and trade restrictions, and it constituted a turning point in the history of modern democracy. The war’s early phase was uncertain, with the colonies unable to organise a strong military and political response, but colonial confidence was eventually boosted by several battles in which American forces won decisively. These victories persuaded France to contemplate formal support, forever changing the trajectory of the revolution.

Hello everyone! My name is Gabriela and I’m a soon to be Senior at “I.L Caragiale” National College. I’m very excited to chair the CRISIS committee alongside my wonderful co-chair Finn.

Going to MUNs has made me realise my passion for public speaking and debating, as well as helped me develop as a person and I hope that attending this CRISIS committee will help other delegates do the same!

Aside from debating, I am very passionate about criminology, history and law, as well as creative writing.

A little about me - my passions include law, politics and public speaking. For over a year now, MUNs have been a significant part of my life, so chairing at a conference affiliated with my own high school is truly meaningful to me.

Introducing the European Court of Human Rights! 🖋️

At this edition of Coşbuc Model United Nations, the European Court of Human Rights, also known as the “ECtHR” welcomes its prospective Counsels and Judges with a complex Case, that awaits to be debated and defended in promising ways:

Case of Big Brother Watch and Others v. The United Kingdom

This respective Case brought the attention of the authorities when whistleblower Edward Snowden, in 2013, exposed the mass-surveillance systems, operated by the intelligence agencies of the State of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. A series of events arose when several Non-Governmental Organisations, journalists and advocacy groups filled applications at the ECtHR. The aforementioned applications argued that the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, under its surveillance regime, has violated the fundamental rights of their citizens, as described in the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act, also known as “RIPA”. 

In a democratic society, to what extent can bulk surveillance be considered necessary?

Did the United Kingdom’s failure to implement independent judicial oversight prior to intercepting communications resemble a systemic flaw in its surveillance, or can it be justified?

Is mass surveillance compatible with human rights laws?

My name is Daria – Cristiana Gheorghe and I am a soon-to-be Senior at “Gheorghe Lazăr” National College in Bucharest and I cannot wait to meet you all at Coşbuc Model United Nations 2025! I am beyond excited to chair with a wonderful person, Matei, which I also got the chance to chair before! 

After attending my first MUN in January 2023, I fell in love with everything a MUN promises. I knew from the first committee session that MUN would become a very important part in my personal development. I am beyond honored to have the opportunity, here, at Coşbuc Model United Nations 2025, to be one of the Presidents of one of the most distinguished conferences in the country, for the third year in a row! 

As a very ambitious and attentive person, I will try my best to make Coşbuc Model United Nations 2025 an unforgettable core memory for everyone that attends it. In my opinion, every single one of us must, in our high school years, participate in a MUN as it is the perfect way to discover yourself, to test and exert your limits! 

So, delegates, raise your placards as high as possible, your standards, as well, and attend Coşbuc Model United Nations 2025!

Hello, esteemed delegates and future debaters,

My name is Luca, and I have the utmost honour and pleasure to welcome you to this edition of Cosbuc Model United Nations. I shall be the Chairperson of the
European Council alongside one the smartest person I know and my best friend, Iris. By doing so I am to help you develop on an academic level, being always open to giving advice and *tricks* so you can better understand the flow of the conference itself.

On a more personal note, l am a sophomore at “lon Luca Caragiale” National College and have participated in several such conferences and I am confident that we can make a wonderful experience. As for my passions, I have an unbelievable attraction for politics (I could argue day and night since I tend to be very controversial) and I also love football. Moreover, I enjoy debating and public speaking and I am very passionate in the field of law, wishing to pursue it, in the future.

With this being said, I wish you the greatest of luck and hope that you will improve your talking skills as well as your ability to think under pressure, but most importantly, that you will have lots of fun in the committee and outside of it by the end of this conference if you choose to participate.

In an era of constantly developing threats, the European Union’s security infrastructure is facing unprecedented difficulties. From hybrid warfare, cyberattacks, and misinformation operations to terrorism, border instability, and heightened geopolitical tensions in Eastern Europe, the need for a strong, cohesive, and flexible security policy has never been greater.

This problem necessitates a comprehensive examination of the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), the function of EUROPOL, FRONTEX, and member-state intelligence-sharing systems. It also raises concerns about strategic autonomy, defense budget, military cooperation, and the EU’s relationship with NATO and other international allies. In the face of new technology and shifting relationships, how can the EU protect its citizens while preserving democratic ideals and human rights?

My name is Iris, I am a rising junior at “Ion Luca Caragiale” National College in Bucharest and it is my utmost pleasure to be a President of the European Council at Cosbuc MUN 2025, alongside my best friend and the person I collaborate best with in all ways possible, Luca.
So as to describe myself, I am a sociable person, passionate about law, reading, writing, travelling and, clearly, debate. As such, I have started my MUN journey in the fall of 2023. I am pleased to have the opportunity to be a Chairperson at this prestigious conference, which means a lot to me for various reasons, such as the topic that is very close to my heart and the committee, which always manages to bring back my spark for MUNs. For this reason I guarantee that I will do my best, alongside my wonderful co-president, to ensure that Cosbuc MUN 2025 will be a great experience for all prospective participants.
