Good people don’t leave because of one bad day.

Their effort was expected.

And by being careless, by thinking they’d always be there, you slowly lose them — not all at once, but piece by piece.

Loyalty doesn’t have an expiration date, but neglect runs up a bill you don’t see coming.
When good people finally leave, they don’t make a scene.
They don’t burn bridges.
They just get tired.

And once they choose themselves, that door doesn’t swing the same way again.

Here’s the part that hurts:
When they’re gone, you don’t replace them with better — you replace them with louder, with more convenient, with people who look the part but don’t have the same heart.

At first, everything seems fine — until the difference becomes clear.
The conversations don’t feel as deep.
The support isn’t as steady.
The loyalty feels fragile.
And that’s when it hits you — you didn’t lose them because they were too much.
You lost them because you treated them like they were replaceable.

Respect costs nothing.
Consideration is free.
Communication requires only effort.

But once someone has to choose themselves after choosing you for too long — they never come back the same.

So if you have good people in your life — people who show up, who care, who stand by you when it’s not convenient — value them.
Treat them right while you still have access, while the effort is still mutual, while the connection is still alive.

Because the regret of replacement will always cost more.
That’s the discipline of respect.
