Course Outline:
Module 1: English Language Mastery (C1-C2 Level)
The focus here is on accuracy, nuance, and the ability to explain "why" the language works the way it does.
The Verb System: Advanced tenses, aspect, mood (Subjunctive), and the passive voice.
Syntax: Complex sentence structures, inversion, cleft sentences, and relative clauses.
Modal Verbs: Degrees of certainty, obligation, and nuanced uses (e.g., might as well, should have).
Word Building & Lexis: Phrasal verbs, idioms, collocations, and word formation patterns.
Module 2: Literature and Culture
This module covers the canonical authors and movements specified in the national curriculum.
1. British Literature
The Renaissance: William Shakespeare (analysis of major plays and sonnets).
The Enlightenment & Romanticism: Prose developments and poetry
The Victorian Age: The social novel
Modernism & Post-Modernism: Virginia Woolf, James Joyce, T.S. Eliot, and contemporary voices.
2. American Literature
Transcendentalism.
American Romanticism/Gothic: Nathaniel Hawthorne, Herman Melville.
The Lost Generation: F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway.
The Southern Gothic & Drama
Module 3: ELT Methodology (Methodics)
This is the "meat" of the exam (Subiectul al III-lea). You must demonstrate how to teach effectively.
Teaching the Four Skills: Strategies for Receptive (Reading, Listening) and Productive (Speaking, Writing) skills.
Grammar & Vocabulary in Context: Moving from PPP (Presentation, Practice, Production) to TBL (Task-Based Learning).
The Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR): Understanding levels A1 through C2.
Assessment & Evaluation: Direct and indirect items
Module 4: Lesson Planning & Practical Application
The Lesson Plan Template: Objectives (SMART), stages of the lesson, timing, and transitions.
Material Selection: Adapting authentic materials vs. using coursebooks.
Technology in the Classroom: Integrating digital tools (ICT) into the English lesson.
Mock Exam Practice: Analyzing previous years' subjects and timing your responses.
