Developed through collaboration across four countries (Poland, Romania, Turkey, and Iceland) this booklet brings together a collection of hands-on geo-activities and ready-to-use lesson plans. It’s designed to help teachers integrate climate change and geoscience into the classroom in creative and engaging ways.

Whether you’re teaching about fossils, volcanoes, or renewable energy, this booklet is a great starting point for making geoscience relevant and fun for students aged 12–16.

🔬✨ Din cele 199 de proiecte finanțate în 2024 la nivel national de Fondul Științescu, 11 au fost la Vâlcea. Anul trecut am pus pe hartă un târg de științe la Gorj, iar anul acesta finanțăm 17 proiecte în Vâlcea și 7 proiecte în Gorj!

Hai să dăm timpul înapoi și să vedem ce am construit împreună în rețea anul trecut:
✅ 20 de programe locale, coordonate de 15 fundații comunitare
✅199 de proiecte susținute de fundațiile comunitare prin Fondurile Științescu locale
✅ 34.000+ copii și tineri care au descoperit magia științei prin proiecte marca
✅ 200+ de localități în care a adus științele și artele mai aproape de elevi
✅ Peste 2.5 milioane de lei investiți în comunități, cu sprijinul a peste 100 de companii

🚀 Științescu continuă să crească datorită oamenilor pasionați care cred în educația de mâine. 🌳🌳March 21, 2025, in the "Jiu Gorge" National Park, on the occasion of the International Day of Forests, students of the "Tudor Vladimirescu" National College, members of the "GeoSchools CNTV" Club, participated in the planting of trees in two localities in Gorj County - Mușetești and Bumbești-Jiu. This activity is part of the "Erasmus Forest" project, an initiative aimed at strengthening the connection between education, social responsibility and environmental protection, with an emphasis on involving young people in actions with a real impact on nature.

The Geoschools Project reached its conclusion with a final meeting in Afyon, Turkey (March 11-13, 2025), bringing together educators and geoscientists from Iceland, Poland, Romania, and Turkey. Over three days, participants reflected on the project’s achievements, shared best practices, and explored how geoparks and outdoor education can transform climate learning.

The event opened with a conference at Afyon Kocatepe University, where partners presented their experiences in using place-based learning to inspire climate action. Discussions focused on bridging the gap between knowledge and action, ensuring that students engage with real-world science in meaningful ways.

A key highlight was the excursion to Kula Salihli UNESCO Global Geopark, where participants explored volcanic landscapes, basalt formations, and the famous Fairy Chimneys. This visit reinforced the project’s central idea—that natural environments are the best classrooms for teaching about Earth’s processes and climate change.

Though this marks the end of the Geoschools Project, the work continues. The lessons learned and resources developed will continue to support teachers, students, and geoparks across Europe, ensuring that climate education remains hands-on, immersive, and impactful.

Thank you to all our partners who made this journey possible. The future of climate education is outside the classroom—in the landscapes, ecosystems, and communities that shape our planet.

Wonderful end to the Geoschools project with a visit to Kula - Salihli Unesco Global Geopark🌋

As part of the Geoschools: Innovative Teaching of Climate Change project, our partners from Iceland, Poland, and Romania had the incredible opportunity to visit Kula-Salihli, along with our hosts in Turkey.

This unique landscape, shaped by volcanic activity, provided the perfect outdoor classroom for discussions on geology, climate change, and outdoor learning. Participants explored volcanic formations, fairy chimneys, and the rich geological heritage of the region, while also engaging in interactive sessions on climate education.

A big thank you to our hosts, Kula Salihili, and everyone who made this visit such a memorable and insightful experience.

🌳Joi, 14 noiembrie, elevi și profesori de la Colegiul Național “Tudor Vladimirescu” - membri ai clubului "GeoClub CNTV" - și prietenii lor de la Liceul Tehnologic Baia de Fier au dat naștere celei de-a doua Păduri Erasmus din județul nostru.
🌳🌳O numim "Pădure Erasmus" deoarece activitatea a avut loc cu ocazia celei de-a treia mobilități din cadrul proiectului Erasmus+ “GeoSchools- Innovative teaching of climate change in schools”, mobilitate ce a avut loc în perioada 11- 15 noiembrie.
Alături de noi au fost și partenerii de proiect: Organizația Nonguvernamentală "GeoCamp" Iceland, elevi și profesori din Polonia - Școala Podstawowa w Barcianach - și de la Liceul Ali Caglar Anadolu, Turcia.
Sub semnul diversității etnice și culturale, participanții au ajutat la plantarea a 150 de puieți de molid la ieșirea din Peștera de la Baia de Fier, într-o acțiune ce a arătat însemnătatea unui efort conjugat al tuturor.
