Think of our driver as your one-hour babysitter: the one who lets you finish a morning meeting, send those last emails, or simply enjoy your coffee without rushing.

Because when your child is picked up safely, each day begins and ends with comfort, care, and peace of mind.

At Colina, safety and connection go hand in hand. Every bus ride includes a dedicated school staff member on board. Your child is never just “in transit” - they’re with someone who knows them, cares about them, and is responsible for their wellbeing throughout the ride.

We support our families’ daily routines with 2 dedicated school bus routes each day:

🚌 Morning departure: 8:20 AM
🚌 Afternoon returns: 3:30 PM and 4:30 PM

Here’s an uncomfortable truth: we send children to school for AT LEAST 12 years to prepare them for life, but nobody trains parents for the most demanding role they’ll ever have.

At Colina, we know that understanding children’s inner world begins with understanding the stages of their development - what they need, what they can do, and how we can meet them where they are.

𝗔𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 - 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.

For weeks, they researched traditional Romanian crafts and created real household items: glass paintings inspired by classical techniques, hand-crafted cutting boards, and decorative pieces rooted in our cultural heritage.
Real, usable, beautiful objects.

Then came the twist: they created their own traditional fair from the ground up to sell their creations.

But here’s what made it special - they weren’t selling for individual profit. They were raising money together for a shared goal: upgrading their playground.

They:
• learned the cultural significance behind each piece
• learned what it means to truly communicate an idea and invite a community in
• promoted the event and showcased the local community in multiple ways: from flyers and bookmark invitations to launching a vlog
• learned pricing, customer interaction, and negotiation
• researched, tested, and cooked traditional Romanian food
• celebrated each sale as collective wins, not individual achievements

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁.

Students didn’t just learn about Romanian traditions.
They didn’t just practice math and entrepreneurship.
They didn’t just develop craftsmanship skills.

They experienced what happens when individual effort serves a shared purpose - when learning, working, and giving back become inseparable.

The playground upgrade matters.
But what matters more is what these students now know, deep in their bones:

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲.

“International School” doesn’t mean “Less Romanian”

When parents hear we’re an international school that teaches in English, there’s sometimes a quiet assumption: that our students must miss out on learning about Romania’s customs, history, and identity.

Last week’s Transform Event proved exactly the opposite.

Students presented their work from the “România, te iubesc!”, expedition - an exploration of the country’s most important landmarks, traditions, and cultural heritage.

Here are some of the things they worked on:
• Created and painted a large carpet with the map of Romania, highlighting important landmarks and regions;
• Made detailed replicas of iconic landmarks, from the Transfăgărășan to Cimitirul Vesel;
• Explored their own identities, their families, and the local area where they live and where the school is located;
• Located Romania in the world and understood its position globally;
• Transformed their classroom into a castle and took on suitable roles, wearing matching costumes;

Watching them present these projects in English to their parents, something became clear: these children aren’t choosing between being international and being Romanian. They’re becoming both, more deeply than either traditional Romanian schools or generic international programs typically achieve.

International education at Colina doesn’t mean replacing local culture with global content. It means giving students the tools to understand their heritage and share it confidently.

Today is Earth Day. 🌍

But here, at Colina, Earth is not something we celebrate just once a year.

It is something we live. Every day.

In the way we step outside.
In the way we listen to the wind, the leaves, the silence.
In the way children learn not just about nature, but with nature.

Because caring for the Earth is not a lesson.
It is a relationship.

We believe that when children grow close to nature, they grow into adults who protect it.
Not out of obligation.
But out of connection.

So today, we don’t just say “Happy Earth Day.”

We pause.
We notice.
We reconnect.

And we continue teaching the next generation something simple, yet essential:

Our learners explored Romanian glass painting, a traditional craft with roots in the late 18th century and widely practiced throughout Transylvania in the 19th century.

Painting in reverse on glass, they discovered more than just a technique. It required patience, precision, creativity and a quiet kind of focus that turns each movement into intention.

Along the way, they explored the meaning behind the symbols: light as faith, flowers as life, and bold colors as protection and hope.

𝗘𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴.

Traditional education hopes students develop the right mindset eventually. We build it from day one.

Because here’s what we’ve learned through Expeditionary Learning: a student who sees a challenge as an invitation to discover has an advantage that a student who sees an obstacle will never understand.

When our students encounter a problem during an expedition - maybe their soap-making process fails, or their wooden toy design doesn’t work, or their museum exhibit needs rethinking-their response matters more than their initial skill level.
Do they see failure as feedback? Do they approach setbacks as part of the process? Do they believe effort leads to mastery?

This is why we’ve woven growth mindset, self-regulation, and focus into the foundation of everything we do. Not as add-ons. Not as “”soft skills”” to address later. As the actual infrastructure that makes deep learning possible.
