The repetitive, mindful swinging of the bokken in Aikido not only strengthens technique but also provides a meditative rhythm that calms the mind and relieves tension.

Practical Tips:
- Set intention: Before starting, decide what you want to “cut away” — stress, fatigue, or distraction.
- Focus on breath: Exhale fully with each swing; this enhances the calming effect.
- Consistency over intensity: Make 40 mindful swings daily.

In essence, suburi is both a technical drill and a meditative ritual. It strengthens your Aikido foundation while offering a pathway to inner calm — a perfect example of how martial arts can harmonize body, mind, and spirit.
