Northwestern University Provost-Elect Erik Luijten addressed the Class of 2026, recognizing their resilience and the global perspective they bring.

He encouraged graduates to remain open to new ideas and to approach their work with intention and awareness.

At this year’s graduation ceremony, Dean Marwan M. Kraidy reflected on the concept of muruna, an Arabic expression of resilience grounded in purpose and principle.
