Based on research conducted by the Global Institute for Population Health at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q), Qatar TV reported on falls among older adults and interviewed Dr. Karima Chaabna, manager of population health research at WCM-Q.

A new study demonstrates how a novel fatty acid measurement derived from NMR lipoprotein profiling can uncover genetic signals linked to fatty acid metabolism.
Analyzing data from over 274,000 participants in the UK Biobank, researchers identified key genetic pathways involved in lipid regulation, providing a valuable new tool for understanding cardiovascular and metabolic health.
Congratulations to the research team, Dr. Abdelaziz Belkadi, Dr. Gaurav Tharja, Nisha Stephan, Dr. Anna Halama and Dr. Karsten Suhre on this important publication in the Journal of Proteome Research.

As part of WCM-Q’s participation at AMEE 2026, Mohamed Ali Hammami, Education Technologist in Medical Education, presented the ePoster “Best Practices for Developing a 360° Video-Based Virtual Reality Application to Enhance Medical Students’ Preparedness for Initial Cadaver Dissection” in the Digital & Technology-Enhanced Learning category.

The research was conducted by the WCM-Q team, including Thurayya Arayssi, Deema Al-Sheikhly, Mange Manyama, and Soha R. Dargham, exploring the use of immersive virtual reality technology to support medical students’ preparation for their initial cadaver dissection experience.

The presentation provided an opportunity to share WCM-Q’s research with the international medical education community and highlight the role of digital technologies in enhancing teaching and learning in medical education.
