S D C is one of the leading institutes in Qatar offering specialized in Indian classical dance, Classical music, fine arts, karate, yoga and personality development. The SDC is a secular institute promoting intellectual and cultural interaction amongst Qataris and expatriates of all o

ther nationalities living in Qatar. We aim to nurture talents of each of our students, enriching their performance skills, there by generating a wider understanding of the art forms. We also prepare advanced students for professional careers in their chosen art form. All students are provided with an opportunity to perform before an encouraging audience consisting of their parents, friends and well-wishers in annual events arranged at the centre every year. We also conduct stage programs for Qatar National day, Republic day, Vijayadashami and Navarathri Celebrations. Apart from these activities, we conduct drawing, quiz competition from the younger ones to the higher grade students.

Skills Development Centre Celebrates Onam with Grandeur

Doha: Skills Development Centre (SDC), one of Qatar’s prominent centres for Fine Arts and Performing Arts, celebrated Onam with great enthusiasm and festive spirit.

The celebrations were inaugurated by Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of India, Doha.

The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including ICC Vice President Shantanu Deshpande, Karnataka Sangha President Subramanya Hebbagelu, Outreach Qatar President K. Krishnakumar, ICC Management Committee Member Ravindraprasad, former ICBF office-bearers Avinash Gaikwad and Mahesh Gowda, and Media Plus CEO Dr. Amanullah Vadakangara.

As part of the celebration, the online edition of Onam Vasantham, a special magazine published by Media Plus, was officially launched. Mr. Sandeep Kumar and Dr. Amanullah Vadakangara jointly released the online edition.

Teachers of Skills Development Centre presented a vibrant variety of cultural programmes, showcasing the rich traditions and artistic talents of the SDC family. A colourful Pookkalam added to the festive ambience, while traditional games and entertainment activities brought joy and togetherness to the celebrations.

The Onam celebration was a memorable occasion that brought the SDC family and guests together in the true spirit of unity, culture and togetherness.

SWAS 2026 Concludes at Skills Development Centre.

The two-month-long SWAS 2026 programme concluded at the Skills Development Centre with a grand finale held at the Centre’s Maestro Hall.

The grand finale was inaugurated by Subramanya Hebbagelu, President, Karnataka Sangha.
SDC Directors P. N. Baburajan, A. K. Jaleel, Aashik Kumar, and Avinash Gaikwad, former General Secretary of ICBF, were among the distinguished guests who attended the event.

Students who participated in SWAS 2026 presented a variety of cultural and artistic performances. The performances they had learned and practised as part of the two-month programme impressed both the parents and the guests.

The programmes were compared by Devipriya Chandrahassan, a former dance and music student of the Skills Development Centre.
