A new school year starts with getting to know each other. Across our classrooms this week, students have been exploring their new learning spaces, looking for maths in the world around them, creating self-portraits as they think about Who We Are, and even turning their curiosity towards their teachers and finding out more about the people they will be learning with this year.

They have also been meeting new classmates, welcoming new students and working together to create essential agreements for their classrooms. These conversations are an important part of the first days of school, helping children think about how they want to learn together, how they treat one another and the kind of classroom community they want to be part of.

Taking the time to know our students and helping them know one another gives us a strong foundation for all the learning that will follow.

Dear ISL Qatar community, welcome back. We missed you, and it was so good to see you again today.

Community has always been at the heart of who we are at ISL Qatar, which makes our thematic goal for 2026–27, Strengthening Engagement for All, especially meaningful. It reflects our belief that people thrive when they feel connected, valued, supported and able to contribute.

This year, we want that belief to be visible in the experience of every student, in the learning we design, the relationships we build, the opportunities to participate and contribute, and the way feedback leads to action. We are very happy to have you back.

A proud moment for our MYP students! This year, our learners recorded a 100% pass rate in the MYP Personal Project, with an average grade above the worldwide average and the majority performing in the top levels.

Behind these numbers is a year of commitment and independent learning, with our students exploring their personal interests, applying their skills and taking ownership of their learning, supported and guided by their teachers along the way.

Congratulations to our students. We are very proud of you!

At ISL Qatar, safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. Throughout the year, our staff engage in ongoing training and reflection to ensure we maintain the highest standards of care, protection, and wellbeing for our students.

Today's session was one part of our continued commitment to keeping children safe and supported at school.

The school feels different when everyone is back. This week, our full team returned to campus for Preparation Week. New colleagues met returning ones, teams reconnected, classrooms started taking shape and ideas for the year ahead began turning into learning experiences.

There has been planning, team building, plenty of conversations and one shared focus throughout it all: creating the best possible experience for our students.

Now, there is just one thing missing. Our students. See you very soon, ISL Qatar!

“Welcome, newbies! Good luck remembering everyone’s name.” This is one of the messages that greeted our new educators on the screens around school this week. A little humour, a warm welcome and, we hope, a pretty accurate introduction to life at ISL Qatar.

Over the past few days, we welcomed new educators from different parts of the world, each with their own experiences, perspectives and stories, into a community that already represents more than 50 nationalities among our faculty and staff.

Induction Week has been all about getting to know each other, with our new colleagues discovering the school, our community and how we work, while we have been getting to know the people who are now part of ISL Qatar.

Today, we wrap up Induction Week. Next comes Prep Week, when our returning educators will join us on campus and we will finalise the last details for the most anticipated event of the year, the first day of school.
We cannot wait!

School is about so much more than what children learn in the classroom. It is where they discover new interests, meet different people, try things they have never tried before and gradually find out more about who they are and who they want to become.

At ISL Qatar, those experiences happen every day, in the classroom, on the stage, on the field and across our community.

As you take your next steps beyond ISL Qatar, we wish you every success and look forward to seeing what the future holds for you.

Looking back at the end of the last school year, our Kindergarten Celebration of Learning reminds us how much happens long before children step onto a stage. For many of them, standing in front of a room full of familiar faces is exciting, but it can also feel a little overwhelming. Day by day, children encourage one another, practise together, wait for their turn, remember what comes next and slowly discover the confidence to share something meaningful with the people they love most.

That confidence has been growing all year through questions, conversations, projects, moments of discovery and the relationships children build every day with their friends and teachers. Little by little, they become more curious, more caring, more confident to share their ideas and more willing to try something new, knowing they are part of a community where they feel safe, supported and valued.

Thank you to our children, families and educators for another wonderful Kindergarten journey. It has been a joy to watch our youngest learners grow, discover who they are and take their first steps as confident inquirers, caring friends and enthusiastic learners.

For a few minutes, the audience sees confident speakers standing on a stage. What they don't see are the weeks before that, the moments of doubt, the ideas that change direction three or four times, and, perhaps most importantly, the research, the rewriting, the conversations, and the courage it takes to stand in front of an audience and share an idea that truly matters to them.

Looking back at the second edition of TEDxYouth@ISLQatar and this year's theme, Ripple Effect, we are reminded that every idea has a journey before it reaches the stage.

At ISL Qatar, students are encouraged to ask questions, challenge ideas, explore different perspectives and find their own voice. By the time they step onto the TEDx stage, they are sharing ideas they have explored, questioned, challenged and shaped into something that is truly their own.

We are grateful to every student, volunteer and member of staff who helped bring this year's TEDxYouth@ISLQatar to life, and we can't wait to see where the next journey will take us.
