Pantok Project A Multi-Sectoral Strategy To Provide Access To Education In Refugees And Displaced Camps Around The World By Adapting Innovative Home-Schooling Model.

PANTOK is committed to providing access to quality basic education for all primary-aged children and overage learners living in refugee camps and other displaced communities around the world.The Initiative will be using innovative and relatively low-cost adaptations of internationally-recognized home-schooling models and capitalizing on the existing, but underutilized, intellectual capacity that i

s found in every refugee community. PANTOK’s model of home-schooling in refugee contexts involves:
● The creation of a series of small (i.e., 3-4 family) home-schooling clusters, as well as orientation programs for participating families;
● The training of a cadre of university and high-school graduates, who reside in the community/camp, on the use and delivery of existing home-schooling curricula and materials;
● The establishment of a support network for these home-schooling providers
● The use of low-cost information and communications technologies;

Despite the best intentions and efforts of governments and international agencies, education remains an unfulfilled promise for millions of children around the world. According to the UN, approximately 59 million school-aged children are not enrolled in a school or other organized educational program, and half of these children are refugees. In the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya for example, nearly 26,000 of the 74,000 young people between the ages of 5 and 17 do not have access to education.
