In todayβs era of interconnected world where we eat, shop, watch, every leisure activity done through the internet, its cloud place where every fragile ,asset and information get stored.
Once we put anything on the internet , even after deletion ,it puts a digital footprint, something which will be there in the cloud forever. We can say breadcrumbs to follow and make it easy for scammers to grab our sensitive content and use it for their own benefits.
Phishing, Identity theft, financial fraud,Prank call, , social engineering, distributed denial of service (DDoS) are just a few examples of it, scammers are playing actively in this playground, making ordinary people , a small firm or corporate, even sometimes the whole country their victim.
Stealing fragile information, looking into their email, sending malware ,private content such as videos, photos, then selling them to interested people or leaking on the internet without consent.
According to global cybersecurity reports, cybercrime is expected to cost the world $10.5 trillion annually by 2025, if we look at the severity of the problem. With millions of users streaming ,and sharing their fragile assets and information across different active platforms it's easier for scammers to follow and hunt them down for their own benefit.
So the question is, why the digital world? It's because of the rapidly growing evolution of technologies, creation of various apps and websites many of them do not work with adequate security protections, giving cybercriminals ample opportunity to find weaknesses and exploit them.
Criminals hide behind encrypted walls, use fake identities, and enjoy people's vulnerability and launch attacks. Additionally, the global nature of the internet makes it harder for law enforcement to track and catch these criminals, especially when their activities cross international borders.
