Our annual 100 Days Celebration honoring the Class of 2026 was a truly memorable occasion, filled with joy, pride, and special moments that will be cherished for years to come.
We were honored to welcome alumna Sabrina Castro, Class of 2017, as our special guest speaker. Sabrina reflected on her journey since graduation, sharing meaningful memories and valuable lessons. Her words left a lasting impression on the Class of 2026, who will undoubtedly carry her inspiration with them as they complete their final year.

The PTA Friendship Festival is a cherished tradition that our Dragons hold close to their hearts. It was wonderful to see everyone reconnect with old friends, reminisce about shared memories, and experience the joy of the festival again with their families.

ASD alumni gathered in Toronto earlier this week for a special evening of connection and community. With alumni from the Classes of 2008 through 2025 represented, it was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect, share stories, and strengthen the Dragon network abroad.
Guests enjoyed small bites and drinks while catching up with old friends and making new connections. The evening was filled with great conversations, shared memories, and meaningful networking — a reminder of the lasting bonds formed at ASD. There was a strong sense of excitement about staying connected and coming together again in the future.

Gavin Klennert attended ASD from 2012, in Grade 2 until graduation in 2024. After graduating from ASD, he moved to Lancaster, California. He is currently attending Antelope Valley College, where he is working toward a degree in Business Administration and competing on the baseball team.
One of his favourite memories from ASD was playing football on the Elementary grass fields throughout Upper Elementary with his classmates. Looking back, he realizes how much of those moments and memories shaped who he is as an athlete and competitor. Having grown up with many of those same students, graduating with them, and remaining in contact with them is something he cherishes, as they are friends who shared the third culture experience with him.

Our first alumni gathering of the year took place last week, and the turnout was amazing. It was a joyful evening of reconnecting and networking, bringing together alumni, Dr. Victor Guthrie, and members of the ASD faculty.
It was inspiring to see the many different paths our alumni have taken since graduating, a powerful reflection of the strength of our academic program and the community that supports it. Alumni from the Classes of 2001 through 2025 were in attendance, making it a privilege to connect with so many Dragons. Our alumni continue to be the leaders who carry our values forward into the world. For more information on future gatherings, please contact [email protected]

What a great day back on campus at Farmer’s Field as ASD Alumni Baseball and Softball took on the Qatar Little League 18U teams. Alumni Softball earned a 3-1 win, and the Alumni Baseball team followed with a 9–3 victory. With mini reunions, concessions, music, and plenty of familiar faces, it was a great time had by all. We look forward to seeing everyone at the next reunion soon. For more information, contact [email protected]

Mariella Fayad attended ASD from 2009 when she started Pre-K until she graduated in 2023. After graduation, she went to Northeastern University in Boston, where she spent her first semesters in both London and California.
She has many wonderful memories from her time at ASD, but if she had to pick just one, it would be when she wrote a short story book in 5th grade, and her classmates and teacher made her a poster and surprised her with it. Since then, she has always felt confident, which was something she had been struggling with at the time. The ASD community was always so supportive in letting her choose who she wanted to be, and she will always be grateful for that.

Aristide Woodley attended ASD from 1995, when it was still known as the American International School, until graduation in 2004. After graduation, he moved back to Cape Town, South Africa to start his flying career.
Some of his favorite memories of ASD are hanging out with friends at school, as well as having amazing teachers, Mr. Johnson’s preclass juggling sessions, and bear crawling across the soccer field with Mr. Walle.
A skill he learned from ASD was how to work with people from around the world, which is essential as an airline pilot. He has worked with people from many different cultures over the last 20 or so years. Having grown up at ASD, with such a big international community, it was easy for him to understand how to work with other cultures. Learning French has also helped, and Senior Seminar skills came in handy as a Flight Instructor, having to create and present lessons and presentations to student pilots.

Kieran Muller joined ASD in January 2019 and graduated in May 2021. He comments that his time at ASD flew by, even faster than the drive-through graduation, but left a mark that will last a lifetime.
One of his favorite memories at ASD is when Scott Barnwell, the then-Head of Admissions, offered him a summer internship at the end of grade 12. Kieran remembers receiving the email asking for a meeting and feeling super nervous. But when Scott offered him the job, it not only meant the world to him, but also gave him the chance to give back to the school he had loved so much. He felt like it was a full circle moment; he had gone from checking his place on the waiting list every Thursday for 1 and a half years to helping families with their applications, tests, and tours. It is something that he still holds dear.
