What happens when a viral product becomes bigger than the brand that created it?
This award-winning case developed by Dr. Deval Kartik at HEC Paris, Doha explores the journey of Fix Dessert Chocolatier, the creator of the original “Dubai Chocolate.” What began as an artisanal product rapidly became a worldwide phenomenon, replicated by major players with greater scale and reach.

At the center is a critical strategy question: how do you protect originality, premium positioning, and brand equity when the market moves faster than you can? This case study is a winner of the 2025 EFMD Global Case Writing Competition under Short Cases: Real Decision Deep Learning Category sponsored by Ivey Publishing.
