If someone was as critical of us as we are critical of ourselves, we would not spend an hour with that person. Yet we have been spending 24hrs with ourselves - for all these years.

A quick note on why you're not seeking the help you need:

Simply put, it's one of 3 factors:

- How much money you think it's fair to spend on yourself (to which little - but something - can be done about)
- How much you trust the coach/therapist/mentor/advisor you met (find another professional)
- Your level of panic (wait long enough and the need will rise)

Remember: you will not invest in a program, you will invest in a less painful, dream-driven, braver, more dignified future for yourself.

Essentially, you will exert your fundamental right to a happier life.

Imagine two people sky-diving for the first time.
Let's call them Mary and John.

They both endured the exact same experience, landing poetically against a backdrop of golden corn fields. To Mary, the aftermath was streaked by indulging with the sublime, a higher experience connecting her to an unmatched sense of freedom. To John, it struck him as the most unthinkable exposure to panic he has ever encountered.
As they rid off their gear, Mary looks at John with the certainty that there is no-one else on Earth that fully grasps how wonderful this experience was. To John, on the other hand, he is sure Mary is profoundly terrified and sworn to never (ever!) attempt such endeavor again.

〉⎋ Sympathy is:
"I know exactly how you're feeling!"

(oops, they couldn't be more wrong!)

〉⚭ Empathy is:
"Wow, I'm feeling like this, how are you feeling?"

Next time someone shares a story with you (especially if it's a story of pain and anguish), NEVER say: "I know exactly how you feel". Instead, say: "I know exactly how I FELT WHEN THAT HAPPENED TO ME. And if you're feeling what I felt, it must be....".

Lamiaa Ameen is more than anything else, a humanist. She is one of the most prominent egyptian artists today, a self-made woman and a proud mother. She gives voice to her inner world (an organized mess in her own words) mainly through illustration. Her creative work depicts the everyday-life melancholy, a strong sense of resilience, but also naivety, fragility and loss. She inspires us deeply.

If she inspires you, follow her work. Remember we need the art more than the artist needs us.

The Internet is confusing us.
If it's not online, is it really there?
If it's not perfect, is it any good?

At human. we have an ambivalent interpretation of the web. We don't mean to state the obvious. We know it is stealing our awareness, compromising the wholeness of our relationships and jeopardizing our time management. We also acknowledge the immense gate of opportunities it enables. Everything is new, the impact of the constant stimulus is still indecipherable (especially in the youngest generations). It is an undeniably beautiful and ugly ex-aequo phenomenon.
In a way, we're all lab rats browsing Google. And what an experiment it's been!

It is confusing. Many businesses (especially the elite ones) thrive through mouth-to-mouth referrals only. What does this teach us?

We believe we all need to take a step back. We need to be real. We need to stop editing our lives and the lives of our brands so shamelessly.
Businesses are made of people. Strategies evolve. Ideas change. It is only natural to assume we changed our minds, our strategies, our vision. We all should be allowed to try something different.
Imagine a world where we can share how we missed a point, how we miscalculated costs, how we made the wrong bets. Wouldn't that teach us something?
The world is desperate for real people. Because once we see the flaws in others, we are ready to accept our own, learn from them and move forward.

This is why you won't see our posts every day. It is tiring for us and certainly for you. We will be here nonetheless, in the real world, working, thinking, evolving; but also struggling with everyday life, eating dinner, and doing our dishes.

The average recruiter scans a resume for less than 10 seconds. We are guessing you knew no-one actually read it all. But maybe this piece of news rule came out as a surprise. What to do, then, to guarantee that in a few seconds the recruiter finds your resume fitting? The secret is to make his/her job easier. The smoother this task is, the easier you will survive the screening phase.

Our parents didn't mean to damage us, though they most probably did.
We may take a few decades to acknowledge the (often not so positive) impact our families lay upon our development, self-concept and self-image.
We had no real options back then. We were defenceless, fragile overly dependant creatures. And they were tired, immature and overwhelmed parents.
The good news is we can finally start to tackle this issue. We are adults now. We are more sophisticated and gathered a repertoire for improvement. But only if we have the courage to visit our early years and admit, with grace and forgiveness, that our parents (regardless of their intent) have, in a way, failed us.

And it's ok. We can now choose a way out. We can sit on a couch and talk to a therapist. Reach out.
