Talvez por estarmos no Alentejo, no campo, ou porque trabalhamos com Património, a ideia de não se poder apressar a ordem natural das coisas surge-nos de forma clara: um tão evidente gerúndio.

Por isso, no Spira Lab, de 10 a 14 de Agosto abalamos e desligam-se todos os telefones e computadores, fecham-se as portas habitualmente abertas, na certeza que, no nosso regresso, retomaremos tudo, tal como deixámos.

😇🔍⛪️ São João Batista, celebrado no dia 24 de Junho, foi um Profeta Judeu do século I, anunciador da vinda do Messias. Era filho de Isabel, prima da Virgem Maria e ficou celebremente conhecido por ter batizado Jesus no Rio Jordão. Herodes Antipas ordenou a sua prisão e condenou-o à morte por decapitação, a pedido da sua enteada Salomé.

Este episódio protagoniza uma outra representação de São João Batista - a sua decapitação. Para os curiosos: podem encontrar uma destas representações na coleção do Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga: “Salomé com a Cabeça de São João Batista”, Lucas Cranach, o Velho.

A representação de São João Batista, na terceira imagem, encontra-se na Ermida de Nossa Senhora das Neves (imagem 2), no concelho do Alandroal.

😇🔍⛪️ Saint John the Baptist, celebrated on June 24th, was a first-century Jewish Prophet, herald of the coming of the Messiah. He was the son of Elizabeth, cousin of the Virgin Mary, and became famously known for having baptized Jesus in the Jordan River. Herod Antipas ordered his imprisonment and condemned him to death by beheading, at the request of his stepdaughter Salome.

This episode is featured in another depiction of Saint John the Baptist — his beheading. For the curious: you can find one of these depictions in the collection of the National Museum of Ancient Art, in Lisbon: "Salome with the Head of Saint John the Baptist," by Lucas Cranach the Elder.

The depiction of Saint John the Baptist, in the third image, is found in the Hermitage of Nossa Senhora das Neves (image 2), in the municipality of Alandroal.

Ouve-se no Alentejo: "Em Julho, ceifa o trigo e faz o debulho. E, em o vento soprando, vai-o limpando."

Este ditado descreve o ciclo tradicional da colheita do trigo em Julho, em três etapas: a ceifa (cortar o trigo), o debulho (separar o grão da palha) e depois usar o vento para, particalmente, limpar o grão — soprando fora a palha mais leve enquanto os grãos mais pesados caem. É um provérbio agrícola que marca a época da colheita e aponta o vento como a ferramenta natural para separar o grão da palha.

There is a saying in Alentejo that goes like this: "In July, reap the wheat and thresh it out. And with the wind blowing, winnow it clean."

It describes the traditional July wheat harvest cycle of the region, in three steps: ceifa (reaping/cutting the wheat), debulho (threshing — separating the grain from the stalk), and then using the wind to limpar (clean/winnow) the grain by blowing away the lighter chaff while the heavier kernels fall back down. It's a practical farming rhyme, marking July as harvest time and pointing to wind as nature's tool for separating grain from chaff.

Andámos pelo território em busca de tesouros escondidos, aprendemos com os insectos que vivem ao nosso lado sem nunca reparamos, e passámos uma manhã inteira com as cabras, para depois trabalhar (e provar!) o que elas nos deram.
Tudo isto foi só uma parte da nossa semana no Alentejo. Houve muito mais: descobertas, silêncios, brincadeira, partilhas, e, como sempre, natureza em estado puro.

Ainda há lugar para viver estas experiências, em Agosto!

We walked through the land in search of hidden treasures, learned from the insects that live alongside us without us ever noticing, and spent a whole morning with the goats, then worked with (and tasted!) what they gave us.

All of this was just a fraction of our week in Alentejo. There was much more to experience: discoveries, silences, free play, sharing, and, as always, nature in its purest state.

Há um mês, celebrávamos juntos 28 anos da Rota do Fresco.

Reuniram-se especialistas, curiosos, leigos. Mais crescidos e mais pequeninos. Contámos com 60 participantes e com belíssimos parceiros que tornaram tudo isto possível.

A month ago, we celebrated the 28th anniversary of Rota do Fresco together.

Experts, curious minds, and laypeople all came together. Older and younger alike. We had 60 participants and wonderful partners who made it all possible.

😇🔍⛪️ Santo António, celebrado a 13 de Junho, nasceu em Lisboa, em 1232, e após São Francisco de Assis, é o Franciscano mais popular, sendo por vezes difícil a distinção iconográfica entre estes dois santos. O seu culto emergiu em Pádua, no século XV, mas difundiu-se rapidamente e universalmente, tendo-se convertido no Santo Nacional dos portugueses.

✨ Os atributos mais comuns de Santo António são a cruz, o livro e o menino Jesus, de pé ou sentado sobre o mesmo. Antigamente era invocado para o resgate de marinheiros náufragos, para atrair ventos favoráveis e para a libertação de prisioneiros. Actualmente a sua ajuda é requisitada para a recuperação de objectos perdidos e para o bom casamento.

😇🔍⛪️ Saint Anthony, celebrated on June 13th, was born in Lisbon in 1232, and after Saint Francis of Assisi, he is the most popular Franciscan, with the iconographic distinction between these two saints sometimes being difficult to make. His cult emerged in Padua in the 15th century, but spread rapidly and universally, having become the National Saint of the Portuguese.

✨ Saint Anthony's most common attributes are the cross, the book, and the Christ Child, either standing or seated upon it. In the past, he was invoked for the rescue of shipwrecked sailors, to draw favorable winds, and for the release of prisoners. Today, his help is sought for the recovery of lost objects and for a good marriage.

Com a REMPART temos vindo a levar jovens portugueses para estas experiências lá fora, mas também a trazer connosco novas formas de trabalhar, aprender e pensar o património.

Tudo o que vamos aprendendo tem sido essencial para fortalecer os nossos próprios Campos Património em Portugal, mais conscientes, mais práticos e mais ligados ao território.
