Ever wondered why the song
says “Monday is blue”? 💙

In English, blue = sad.
Where it comes from: Blue makes people think of rain, gray skies, and gloomy vibes.
What it means: Saying “I’m feeling blue” just means “I’m feeling down.”
The Monday Blues: That terrible feeling when Sunday ends and you have to get back to work/school? That’s the Monday blues!
Quick example:

“I’ve got the Monday blues...” = I’m so sad the weekend is over!

In casual daily speech, “How are you getting on?” simply means “How are you doing?” or “How’s everything going?”

It’s a super common, friendly way to check in on someone’s life, a specific project, or a new situation.

“That’s my bad” (or simply “My bad”) is a casual, informal way to say “It’s my fault” or “I made a mistake.”

It is one of the most common everyday expressions in American English when you want to take responsibility for a small mistake without making a big deal out of it.
Example Mini-Dialogues:
A: “Hey, you accidentally brought me the wrong coffee.”
B: “Oh, that’s my bad! Let me grab you the right one.”
A: “Did you forget to lock the back door?”
