🎉 Let's unravel the mystery of the letter R in Portuguese! 🍽️

Have you noticed that the letter R has two different pronunciations in Portuguese? 🤔🎧 The secret lies in its position in the word! Let’s explain! 📚🌟

🔍 First secret: At the beginning of the word or when we have a double r, the sound is stronger and more guttural (“throaty”), similar to the Spanish "r" sound or the aspirated "h" sound in English. Examples:

Rua 🏠

Rato 🐀

Carro 🚗

Barriga 💪

🔑 Tip to remember: The "R" at the beginning of the word or doubled is always stronger and comes from the throat!

🌟 Now, the second secret: When the "R" appears at the end of the word, between vowels, or before and after consonants, the sound is softer and more oral, similar to the English "r" in words like "better" (in American English). Examples:

Amor ❤️

Porto 🌊

Caro 💼

Verde 🌱

🔑 Tip to remember: This "R" is lighter and pronounced more subtly in the mouth!

Now that you know this trick, how about practicing a bit? 🤓📚

💬 Can you think of more words with a strong "R" and a soft "R"? Share in the comments! ⬇️
