After my mum passed away in 2022, I took two months off before I quit my job and started my ‘new life’.
When I then started, I went straight into ‘how can I help people’, ‘what can I sell’, which is what most people do. Even the clients that I start working with.
I felt like I had to keep going. The momentum and rhythm I was accustomed to for the last 17+ years. Go. Go. Go.
But I didn’t have a presence online. No community, no trust as a coach or my new ‘identity’. I just hard launched into this new career as best as I could.
What inspired me to write this was a conversation with a client.
I sent a voicenote to a client this morning who’s been managing a difficult period, without giving away too much. Her body and capacity to start serving and helping others, which is what she wants to do, aren’t there (yet). She said, ‘I can’t help women now, I don't feel ready’.
My recommendation to her was to start building the community she wishes she had. Build what YOU wish you had to support YOU.
In building that, she’ll build trust, confidence, and awareness of what people actually want, both in checking in with them and herself. And she’ll heal in the act of being in community.
They may turn into clients, or they’ll spread the word to others.
But at the foundation, you’re supporting yourself and others.
If you’re building a business or starting to think of one, are you intentionally spending time building a community and platform to share, inspire or help others?
If yes, what are you focusing on doing? Would love to hear what your approach is in the comments?

People often ask me ‘How can I help someone’? ‘There are so many consultants/coaches/advisors out there, why would someone pay for me?
Here’s a simple framework I use to help you qualify a client and show them your value.
DM ‘VALUE’ to get the final and most critical step.

Arriving back home 🏠
I spent the last 10 days in the UK, which originally started as a one day festival my friend got me tickets to last year…
… I turned it into a mini trip to see friends, family and clients 👯♀️
This was my first trip this year since moving to Portugal in January 🤯 If it wasn’t for this festival I probably wouldn’t have travelled.
As someone who grew up traveling from the age of 2, traveling in quit literally in my dna. I’ve lived all around the world, traveled to more places in the last 3 years that I can remember but this year something truly changed. I felt a deep pull to ground. To stay put. To lay roots. Nesting. Whatever you call it. I didn’t want to travel 😳
Being back was great for the people I saw. Everything else 🤔 😅
I got sick as a result of the cold and all the germs flying around. Maybe my mindset and resistance played a part.
What are my reflections? You know I love a reflection 😉
I’m grateful for the people I got to spend time with. Family, friends, my clients that I love working with - they are what’s important.
It’s also affirmed my decision for moving to Portugal. From a place of alignment and feeling AT HOME here 💚 so grateful
It’s also reminded me to listen to my body. On Friday I started to feel off. So I canceled my plans on Friday evening and stayed in bed. Yes I missed out on my one night out, but my body needed it. I’m also not feeling the pull to travel again this year, unless for Christmas.
For anyone that knows me this is super ‘uncharacteristic’, but it feels 100% aligned to where I am now and what my body, heart and soul need 🙏🏼
Remember this is your life. You do you and what you feel called to.
For me it’s being here, serving those people and projects that feel aligned, and tuning into what lights me up.
On that note, heading out to a comedy show tonight that I can’t WAIT FOR! andré de freitas
It’s good to be back, in my groove and flow 💫

Hello from the fatherland…i.e. UK! If you haven’t seen on socials already this week, I'm in the UK; from a 1-day festival in Leeds to a few days staying and working with my right-hand woman and great friend, Laura, before heading down to London to see friends, family and current and past clients.
Seeing as I was going to be up North, I didn’t want to miss spending quality time with Laura! To connect and plan!
Every 3-6 months, we intentionally step away from the day-to-day and zoom out.
This time, as I sat down with Laura, I realised that we were spending A LOT of time duplicating efforts across certain parts of our business that weren’t making sense or efficient. Especially across our social media and marketing strategy.
So we zoomed out to analyse the business.
✔️ What's actually working?
✔️ What's giving us the biggest return on our time?
✔️ What can we stop doing?
✔️ Where can systems, AI and automation support us better?
We went deep on content strategy. Let me take you behind the scenes on exactly what we did:
Step 1: Reviewed our brand pillar and content matrix, simplifying and setting it up to automate
Step 2: Analysed past email and social posts (IG, LinkedIn, email) across brand pillars AND awareness stages.
Step 3: Populated the best-performing content back into the matrix, refreshed what needed updating, and left testimonials and case studies as-is
Step 4: Researched our automation options, made a decision, and are now setting the whole thing up so the system runs without us
Like many business owners, it's easy to fall into the trap of believing growth comes from doing more.
But this week was about creating smarter processes behind the scenes so we can spend more time where we're needed most. It’s about 10x’ing the business (not 2x) - as per Dan Sullivan’s book “10x is easier than 2x”.
This means I can focus on:
✔️ Supporting clients
✔️ Creating meaningful impact
✔️ Scaling operations efficiently
✔️ Protecting our energy
What's one thing in your business or career you wish you could automate, simplify or stop doing altogether? 👇
