Meet our Grade 5 Junior House Captains, students who lead with kindness, responsibility, and a commitment to making a difference.

Throughout the year, they help organize fundraising initiatives, competitions, and community projects that bring students together across all four Houses: Regaleira, Pena, Monserrate, and Mouros.

By supporting our community partners, they learn that leadership isn’t about being in charge, it’s about helping others, working as a team, and creating a positive impact.

From planning events to raising funds for meaningful causes, our Junior House Captains show that even small actions can make a big difference when a community comes together.

We are so proud of their dedication, confidence, and spirit of service. 👏✨

📚✨ 25,000 books and counting!

Our Lower School students have already checked out more than 25,000 books this year, and we’re on our way to reaching our goal of 30,000 books! 🚀

🔹 Fantasy has been the most popular genre this year
🔹 Our top reader has checked out an incredible 307 books
🔹 Library classes include dedicated reading time to help students build consistency, stamina, and confidence as readers
🔹 Student-led initiatives like the First Grade Choice Awards give young readers ownership of their reading journey

At TASIS Portugal, fostering a love of reading is about more than numbers—it’s about creating lifelong readers, one book at a time. ❤️📖

What would it feel like to leave everything you know behind and start over in a new country?

Our Grade 2 students explored this question during a special CKLA Super Event on Immigration and Citizenship. Stepping into the shoes of immigrants arriving in the United States, students experienced a simulation that challenged them to navigate the immigration process. Some were welcomed through, while others faced unexpected barriers. Along the way, they felt moments of excitement, nervousness, hope, and disappointment—emotions that many immigrants have experienced throughout history.

More than a lesson, this was an opportunity to build empathy and understanding! Students learned about the courage it takes to leave home, adapt to a new culture, and create a new life in an unfamiliar place. 🌍

As an international school, these stories resonate strongly within our community. Many of our students and families know what it means to move across borders, learn new languages, and find a sense of belonging in a new environment.

The experience sparked thoughtful conversations, powerful reflections, and a deeper appreciation for the diverse journeys that shape our world.

Learning is at its best when students don't just study history, they experience it! 💙

At TASIS Portugal, students marked the anniversary of the Carnation Revolution by exploring the meaning of liberty, democracy, and the events that shaped modern Portugal. Using newspaper front pages published in the weeks following April 25, 1974, they discovered how this historic peaceful revolution helped restore freedom to the country! 🇵🇹

To honor the occasion, students created their own carnations—the enduring symbol of the revolution—while reflecting on the importance of freedom and civic values.

Grade 2 visited for a hands-on field trip into the fascinating world of bees. Dressed in real beekeeper suits, students explored hives up close, met the queen bee, drones, and worker bees, and discovered how each plays a role in the colony.

This experience connected directly to their CKLA unit on lifecycles and insects, deepening their understanding of pollination and the vital role bees play in our ecosystem.

A memorable day full of curiosity, confidence, and meaningful learning. 🌼🍯

This year’s TASIS Speaks Finals celebrated the power of student voice across all divisions. With this year’s themes of Truth in Elementary, Perspective in Middle School and Freedom in High School, our students shared presentations that were thoughtful, engaging and full of meaning.

We were amazed by the curiosity, courage and care each student brought to the stage. These presentations were more than speeches. They were moments of connection, reflection and inspiration for everyone watching. 🌟

A huge congratulations to all our winners and participants. You made us proud and reminded us why student voice matters so much 💬👏

The ability to speak articulately, convincingly, and publicly is an essential life skill. 🗣️

Each year, TASIS Portugal students develop this skill by independently researching their chosen topics, thoughtfully weaving personal insights with academic learning, and crafting a powerful speech.

Our previous winners and finalists share how TASIS Speaks helped them grow into confident public speakers and empowered them to share their ideas with the world.

Today, a new TASIS Speaks 2026 took the stage… stay tuned for the results 🎤
