𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗺𝘂𝘀+ 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 CLIMA VERSE
During the Open Day at Escola Secundária Dr. José Afonso, the Erasmus+ project CLIMA VERSE was presented to the school community, highlighting its main objectives, activities and expected results.
The presentation was led by Rui Baltazar, who shared the key points of the project and explained the importance of these initiatives for students, teachers and the school.
This was another important moment to showcase the work being developed within European projects and to highlight the impact of Erasmus+ in promoting cooperation, sharing good practices and opening the school to Europe.

Within the framework of the webinar "International Projects, Collaboration, and Professional Development"—held for students of the Master’s degrees in Teaching at the University of Lisbon, including future teachers from the Master in Informatics Teaching—the tremendous impact of Erasmus+ projects in transforming modern classrooms was put in the spotlight.
Rui Baltazar took the stage as one of the main speakers to deliver an insightful presentation on the Erasmus+ project, showcasing how participating in European initiatives can revolutionize pedagogical practices and strengthen teachers' professional identity.
These two presentations successfully took place on May 15th and May 26th, 2026. The conferences served as a prime space for sharing and critical reflection, demonstrating concrete examples of meaningfully integrating digital technologies into teaching, promoting cross-border mobility, and building essential global skills for today's schools.
A Distinguished Panel
The event also featured a highly valuable contribution from our colleague Rute Batista, Senior Professional Development Manager for the Support Services of the European School Education Platform and eTwinning, who was present to share her expert insights and extensive experience in teacher professional development on a European scale.

❗Scientists say 2026 is continuing a global pattern of extreme climate conditions, including heatwaves, droughts, and large wildfire activity across multiple regions.
Across Europe, the situation is already being felt on the ground.
🌡️ Europe is getting “summer in spring” heatwaves
Right now, parts of Europe are experiencing record-breaking May temperatures above 35°C. At the same time, heat, dry conditions, and wildfire risk are increasingly occurring together, amplifying the impact across ecosystems and communities.
🌿 At CLIMA-VERSE project, we focus on turning these real-world climate realities into immersive learning experiences, helping students understand climate systems through interactive, technology-driven education.

🐝🌍 World Bee Day 🌍🐝
Did you know that bees are responsible for pollinating around 75% of the world’s food crops? Their role is essential for food security, biodiversity, and the balance of ecosystems. Yet bee populations worldwide are declining due to climate change, pesticides, monocultures, and habitat destruction.
Within the CLIMA-VERSE project, we are developing an interactive Beehive Escape Room scenario in which students will explore the impact of human activities on the environment and search for solutions to protect bees and support a more sustainable future. 🌱
Through innovative approaches, sustainability-focused content, and the Metaverse, we aim to foster critical thinking, systems thinking, and environmental responsibility among young people.
💛 Small bees – huge impact on life on Earth.

🌍 Did you know?
According to the World Meteorological Organization State of the Global Climate 2025 report, the past three years are the warmest 3-year period ever recorded in the 176-year global temperature record.
But what is even more striking is where the heat goes:
🌊 About 91% of the excess energy trapped by greenhouse gases is absorbed by the oceans. In 2025, ocean heat content reached a new record high.
🧊 Around 3% of that energy melts ice, contributing to accelerating glacier loss — with most of the strongest glacier mass declines since 1950 happening after 2016.
🌱 And while the ocean absorbs about 29% of human CO₂ emissions, helping slow atmospheric warming, it comes at a cost: ocean acidification, which is changing marine chemistry worldwide.
The key message is clear:
most of the warming is invisible — but it is reshaping Earth’s systems from the deep ocean to the polar ice.
This is exactly why climate education matters.
Through CLIMAVERSE, students explore climate change through immersive, situation-based learning, helping them understand how global climate systems affect ecosystems, communities and their own future.

𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗘 – 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿! 🚀🌱
Today, the CLIMAVERSE partners met once again to align progress and keep the momentum strong!
During the meeting, we reviewed key management updates, upcoming deadlines, and partner responsibilities, ensuring a smooth path for the next phase of the project. We also explored exciting developments in the CLIMA-VERSE Curriculum in the Metaverse, including a first look at one of the learning scenarios. 🌐🎮
Discussions also focused on sustainability and impact, with updates on awareness campaigns and long-term strategies to ensure the project’s results continue to grow across Europe.
Looking ahead, we are working on practical guidelines for teachers and students, as well as strengthening collaboration through expert contributions and inclusive approaches.
Together, we continue building innovative pathways for climate education! 🌍✨

♻️ From old to new – creativity meets sustainability!
As part of the Erasmus+ CLIMA-VERSE project, students from Strokovni izobraževalni center Ljubljana took part in the Style Challenge: Creative Chair Upcycling, where they transformed worn-out chairs into unique, functional pieces using recycled materials.
Through this activity, students showed how waste can become a resource and how creative thinking can contribute to a more sustainable future. Old materials gained a new life, proving that design can be both environmentally responsible and practical.
💡 Small actions, big impact – reusing materials is one step closer to a greener planet!

🌍 Climate change isn’t just a future problem — it’s our reality today.
But here’s the good news: education can be a powerful tool for change.
Through interactive and immersive experiences, students can explore real-world challenges, test solutions, and understand the impact of their choices.
💡 Because the next generation won’t just learn about the future… they will shape it.
At Climaverse, we’re helping learners turn knowledge into action.

🌍 What if you could experience climate change instead of just learning about it?
🌱 Did you know that Virtual Reality is transforming the way we understand our planet?
Imagine walking through a forest after a wildfire 🔥 or watching sea levels rise around you in real time 🌊 — all from your classroom.
This is the power of the metaverse: turning awareness into real understanding.
💡 At Climaverse, we’re rethinking education — making it immersive, engaging, and meaningful for the next generation.
