The "Symposium on Bioengineering" is back with its 10th edition. It will be held on April 6th and 7th at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto! If you were a fan of the previous edition, wait until you see what we have in store for you this time!

"Solving Tomorrow, Today" continues to be the motto adopted. Taking the best from the previous editions and improving it, we will have 24 speakers from several different countries to bring you news on the hottest topics current and best of all in bioengineering: sustainability and bioresources, leading technologies for diagnosis, prognosis and / or treatment of diseases, development of therapies targeting age-related diseases, biomimicry, engineering of microorganisms, biotechnology and biomedical engineering studies of metabolism and technologies for high performance athletes.

Additionally, we will have two transversal panels, ‘Made in MIB/MEB’ and ‘A tour through Bioentrepreneurship’ - all of this awaits you!

Furthermore, we will give you, once again, the chance to get to meet researchers and entrepreneurs through sessions of “Speed Dating” or Social Dinner, and the opportunity to contribute for a solidary cause - Association Cura+ - during registration or during the event.

Next Thursday, 6th of December, join us on room I-105@FEUP for a talk on "Intelligent Systems in Decentralised Health Technologies", by Dr. Inês Sousa, from Fraunhofer Portugal.

Inês is currently Head of Intelligent Systems at Fraunhofer Portugal. The Intelligent Systems group is focused on building solutions for business fields where intelligent ICT is emerging.
This group investigates ways in which technology can augment human potential in interpreting vast amounts of data, identifying patterns, anticipating events and supporting decisions.

Within this wide scientific field, they specialise in machine learning, computer vision, sensor fusion, and intelligence embedded into ever smaller devices with deep knowledge that goes from statistical classification to neural methods using deep learning methodologies and infrastructure.

No âmbito da Code Week 2018, o EMBS vai dar um workshop de Computer Vision em conjunto com o NEB Núcleo de Estudantes de Bioengenharia - FEUP / ICBAS. Os formadores serão Paulo Maia e Vítor Minhoto, alunos do 5º ano de Bioengenharia (ramo de Engenharia Biomédica). Será dado suporte tanto em Python como em Matlab.

In recent years, the IEEE EMBS Chapter Portugal has been organizing Enbeng Conference, a biennial conference dedicated to all biomedical engineering matters. This 6th IEEE Portuguese Meeting on Bioengineering will be held from 22 – 23 February 2019, in ISEL - Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa – Lisbon, Portugal.
