No passado dia 6 de Junho inaugurámos, na Sala 1 da Cooperativa Árvore, a exposição “PE(r)SSONA”, de Balbina Mendes.

Agradecemos a todos os que estiveram presentes neste momento de celebração da arte, da identidade e da cultura mirandesa.

Integrada na programação do Mês do Mirandês, a exposição propõe uma reflexão sobre a construção da pessoa, a memória, a pertença e a relação entre linguagem e identidade. Através de uma abordagem simultaneamente íntima e simbólica, Balbina Mendes convida-nos a revisitar as nossas raízes e a reconhecer o valor das heranças culturais que nos moldam.

On June 6, we opened Balbina Mendes’s exhibition “PE(r)SSONA” in Room 1 of the Árvore Cooperative.

We thank everyone who attended this celebration of Mirandese art, identity, and culture.

As part of the Mirandese Month program, the exhibition invites reflection on the construction of the self, memory, a sense of belonging, and the relationship between language and identity. Through an approach that is both intimate and symbolic, Balbina Mendes invites us to revisit our roots and recognize the value of the cultural legacies that shape us.

🎨 A Cooperativa Árvore continua a investir no futuro da criação artística | Inscrições link da bio 🎨

Estão a decorrer as candidaturas para duas importantes iniciativas que promovem a arte contemporânea e apoiam artistas em diferentes momentos do seu percurso: o Prémio Árvore das Virtudes 2026 e a 3.ª edição dos Programas Jovens Criadores na Árvore e Artistas Cooperadores.

O Prémio Árvore das Virtudes destina-se a estudantes finalistas, mestrandos e jovens artistas em contexto académico, distinguindo projetos de excelência nas áreas das artes visuais e promovendo a sua divulgação junto do público.

Já os programas Jovens Criadores na Árvore e Artistas Cooperadores oferecem a oportunidade de realizar uma exposição individual na Galeria da Árvore, incentivando a criação, a experimentação e a afirmação de novos percursos artísticos.

🎨 The Árvore Cooperative continues to invest in the future of artistic creation | Apply via the link in the bio 🎨

Applications are now open for two major initiatives that promote contemporary art and support artists at different stages of their careers: the 2026 Árvore das Virtudes Award and the 3rd edition of the Young Creators at Árvore and Cooperating Artists Programs.

The Árvore das Virtudes Award is intended for senior undergraduates, master’s students, and young artists in academic settings, recognizing projects of excellence in the visual arts and promoting their dissemination to the public.

The Young Creators at Árvore and Collaborating Artists programs, meanwhile, offer the opportunity to hold a solo exhibition at the Árvore Gallery, encouraging creation, experimentation, and the development of new artistic paths.

Patente na Sala 1 da Árvore até 4 de julho, a exposição PE(r)SSONA, de Balbina Mendes, integra a programação do Mês do Mirandês e propõe uma reflexão sobre identidade, pertença e memória cultural. 🎭

Através de uma combinação de técnicas e materiais como sarapilheira, tela, óleo, aguarela, plexiglass, cerâmica, serigrafia e linha, a artista constrói um universo visual onde rostos e máscaras se entrelaçam numa exploração das múltiplas camadas da pessoa e da sua relação com a comunidade.

Símbolo de transformação e mediação cultural, a máscara assume um papel central na exposição. Mais do que ocultar, revela: transporta memórias, valores e narrativas ancestrais, ligando o indivíduo a um território material e espiritual. Entre o visível e o invisível, Balbina Mendes convida-nos a revisitar as raízes da cultura mirandesa num processo de redescoberta de si e do outro.

On view in Room 1 of Árvore through July 4, Balbina Mendes’ exhibition PE(r)SSONA is part of the Mirandese Month program and invites reflection on identity, belonging, and cultural memory.

Through a combination of techniques and materials such as burlap, canvas, oil, watercolor, plexiglass, ceramics, screen printing, and thread, the artist constructs a visual universe where faces and masks intertwine in an exploration of the multiple layers of the individual and their relationship with the community.

A symbol of transformation and cultural mediation, the mask plays a central role in the exhibition. More than concealing, it reveals: it carries memories, values, and ancestral narratives, connecting the individual to a material and spiritual territory. Between the visible and the invisible, Balbina Mendes invites us to revisit the roots of Mirandese culture in a process of rediscovering oneself and the other.

A Lei n.º 7/99 reconheceu o direito a cultivar e promover o mirandês, o direito das crianças à aprendizagem da língua e a possibilidade de documentos públicos locais serem escritos em mirandês.

La Lei n.º 7/99 recoinciu l dreito a cultibar i promober l mirandés, l dreito de ls ninos a la daprendizaige de la lhéngua i la possiblidade de decumientos públicos locales séren screbidos an mirandés.

A Árvore apresenta "No Piso Térreo de um Clarão", exposição de Marco Silva.

“Na latência da noite, caminhamos No Piso Térreo de um Clarão. O jardim crepuscular, submerso tanto em aurora rosada como nas águas de um anoitecer, dentro do qual eclode a luz que atravessa a vaporosa cortina do fantasma. Erguem-se os muros, paredes rugosas recortadas pela neblina lustrosa do verdor, banhadas de dia, afogadas de noite. Na interrupção, abre-se a boca do umbral, devoradora entrada do labirinto onde o ser oscila entre ir e ficar.”

A Árvore presents “On the Ground Floor of a Flash,” an exhibition by Marco Silva.

“In the stillness of the night, we walk On the Ground Floor of a Flash. The twilight garden, submerged in both the pink dawn and the waters of dusk, within which light bursts forth, piercing the misty veil of the phantom. The walls rise, rough surfaces cut by the lustrous mist of greenery, bathed by day, drowned by night. In the interruption, the mouth of the threshold opens, a devouring entrance to the labyrinth where the being oscillates between leaving and staying.”

Integrada na programação do Mês do Mirandês, a exposição estabelece uma ligação íntima entre criação artística e língua materna, afirmando o mirandês não apenas como património linguístico, mas também como espaço de expressão, afeto e construção de identidade.

Entre imagens, símbolos e narrativas, Balbina Mendes propõe um percurso que celebra uma das mais singulares heranças culturais de Portugal, mantendo viva a relação entre tradição e contemporaneidade.

O mirandês não é uma mistura de português e espanhol, não é um dialeto, mas uma língua românica própria, com raízes no asturo-leonês e que foi preservada na Terra de Miranda, muito devido ao secular isolamento dessas populações.

L mirandés nun ye ua mistura de pertués i de spanhol, nun ye un dialeto, mas ua lhéngua románica própia, cun raízes ne l asturo-lhionés, i que fui preserbada na Tierra de Miranda, muito por bias de l eizolamiento secular dessas populaçones.

🎨 “Pratos Para Que Vos Quero” volta para a sua 7.ª edição!

Os preparativos já decorrem na nossa Oficina de Cerâmica, onde os artistas dão forma às peças que integrarão esta nova exposição no final do ano.

Ana Torrie, uma das artistas participantes, trabalha na criação dos seus pratos, juntando criatividade, técnica e expressão pessoal.

🎨 “Pratos Para Que Vos Quero” returns for its 7th edition!

Preparations are already underway in our Ceramics Workshop, where artists are shaping the pieces that will be featured in this new exhibition at the end of the year.

Ana Torrie, one of the participating artists, is working on creating her plates, combining creativity, technique, and personal expression.
