Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, has launched “Vilnius is a School” – an innovative education project combining classroom-based and remote learning with classes in public and business spaces throughout the city.
The project primarily addresses primary and secondary and combines traditional classes within schools with remote learning and classes in museums, parks, libraries and other public spaces as well as in business facilities.

Playing a musical instrument has a positive impact on cognitive ability, according to new research published in Psychological Science and reported by The Economist.

A team of researchers at Edinburgh University found a significant positive relationship between playing an instrument and change in cognitive ability over time.

Lisbon is the fourth best city in the world for expats

Lisbon jumped to 4th place in 2022 among the best cities for foreigners to live in, an increase of 14 positions compared to the 18th position reached by the Portuguese capital last year.

Lisbon is one of the cities where expats feel happiest about life abroad (86% happiness versus 71% globally).

GALLUP'S LAW AND ORDER INDEX

Portugal ranks 8th ex-aequo (with Taiwan, Slovenia and Austria) among 115 countries in Gallup’s just published 2021 Law and Order Index.

Gallup’s Law and Order Index uses four questions to gauge people’s sense of personal security and their personal experiences with crime and law enforcement.

1 In the city or area where you live, do you have confidence in the local police force?
2 Do you feel safe walking alone at night in the city or area
3 Within the last 12 months, have you had money or property stolen from you or another household member?
4 Within the past 12 months, have you been assaulted or mugged?

The 2021 Global Law and Order report presents the results from Gallup’s latest measurements of people’s answers to these questions, based on interviews with more than 120,000 adults.
