🚀 Metafacturing Featured at 𝗜𝗦𝗠 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱
On 12 November, the METAFACTURING project was showcased at the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝟰.𝟬 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗜𝗦𝗠 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱) in Malta — a leading global forum for digital transformation and smart production technologies.

The presentation, “Data and Metadata for Advanced Digitalization of Manufacturing Industrial Lines”, was delivered by Roxana Holom, 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 & 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 at RISC Software GmbH, a key project partner. It explored how structured data and metadata can drive smarter, more efficient industrial manufacturing lines, sharing cutting-edge research insights and real-world applications from the Metafacturing collaboration.

This participation reinforces Metafacturing’s commitment to advancing intelligent manufacturing, accelerating Industry 4.0 adoption, and strengthening European innovation in smart industrial systems.

MetaFacturing was proud to take part in this key event, together with the DiMAT and PIONEER Project, presenting concrete results and sharing an exhibition stand that showcased how European R&D is driving digital transformation, data-driven design, and sustainable manufacturing.

💡 At the 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗘𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗼𝘀, we highlighted how these two projects are reshaping industrial ecosystems through open innovation, AI-powered tools, and collaborative research.

🔧 Day 1 Highlights from SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN 2025
At the world’s leading trade fair for joining, cutting, and surfacing technologies, an important industry theme was set right from the start.

During his presentation “METAFACTURING: Advanced digitalisation for industrial production”, Hannes Hinterbichler (Fronius International) unveiled the latest results of the EU-funded METAFACTURING project, which has been running for 3 years.

📊 By capturing and analysing welding process data on industrial production lines, the project enables:
- Early detection of defects and anomalies
- Reduced quality control costs and rejection rates
- Training of machine learning models to predict weld quality → paving the way for predictive maintenance

💡 The key message: If valuable data is generated during welding, why not use it? Efficiency gains rely directly on data traceability and quality — and research shows the potential is already there.

🔧 Yesterday at SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN 2025!

The MetaFacturing Project Workshop & Roundtable took place yesterday, September 15th, at the Fronius International booth (3B63).

💡 During this session, Dr. Hannes Hinterbichler (Fronius International) presented the project’s key results, showcasing the development of a digitized toolchain for metal part production.

Key highlights included:
✅ Digital Twin-based process setup and control
✅ Model-based data fusion for smarter decision-making
✅ Continuous Life Cycle Assessment for sustainability
✅ Demonstrators validating the approach in industrial settings

🌍 These innovations aim to enhance production resilience, reduce scrap, and optimize the use of resources—especially recycled materials.
