🌱 Strengthening Sustainable Agriculture in Portugal 🇵🇹
Four innovative agricultural projects will promote sustainable water and soil management with the support of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, under the Gulbenkian Water initiative. 💧
The projects aim to share knowledge and practices that enhance water efficiency and soil health, directly benefiting agricultural production and the conservation of natural resources.
👉 The selected projects will be implemented across various regions of Portugal — including Oeste, Mondego, Golegã, Coruche, Trás‑os‑Montes, and Dão — covering topics such as cover crops in orchards and vineyards, hands-on training for farmers, regenerative agriculture, and the creation of local agricultural mentor networks.
This initiative marks an important step towards a more resilient and sustainable agriculture in Portugal, supporting farmers and encouraging the adoption of innovative solutions in the field. 🌍👩🌾👨🌾

Forests are vital to life on Earth, acting as the planet’s lungs by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. They support biodiversity, regulate the water cycle, prevent soil erosion, and maintain air quality. Forests also provide resources like timber, food, and medicines, supporting millions of livelihoods while offering spaces for recreation and cultural significance.
On this International Day of Forests, let’s celebrate their invaluable role and commit to their conservation for future generations.

Celebrating World Wetlands Day on February 2nd is important because it raises awareness about the vital role wetlands play in maintaining a healthy planet. Wetlands provide numerous environmental, social, and economic benefits, from acting as carbon sinks and mitigating climate change to supporting biodiversity and providing clean water. By highlighting their significance, we encourage the protection and restoration of these ecosystems, which are often threatened by human activity, climate change, and urbanization. Celebrating Wetlands Day fosters global recognition of their value and promotes sustainable practices that help preserve these crucial ecosystems for future generations.
