LXNIGHTS Research Group was originally created in July 2014 by a Lisbon-based interdisciplinary team of young geographers, anthropologists and sociologists. Since its foundation, our main research objective has been to identify and analyze the range of spatial, social, cultural, economic, and governance-related impacts derived from the expansion of nighttime leisure economy in central urban areas

It is a great joy to see that the work carried out year after year is bearing fruit in the consolidation of this wonderful initiative for the academic debate in the field of Night Studies, which is resulting from thee collaboration between the International Night Studies Network and my research group, LXNights Research Group Eternally grateful, Manuel García Ruiz, for your energy and for your absolutely professional and invaluable work.

The 7th International Conference on Night Studies is supported by my research centre, CICS.NOVA - Centro Interdisciplinar em Ciências Sociais, my faculty NOVA FCSH, and two Portuguese leading higher education and research centers, namely the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-ISCTE), and the Institute of Sociology – University of Porto (ISUP).

The International Night Studies Network and LXNIGHTS Research Group are thrilled to announce the call for chapters for The Palgrave Handbook on Nocturnal Cities, a forthcoming volume that aims to offer a globally informed, interdisciplinary, and critical perspective on urban life after dark. From governance and infrastructure to culture, care, resistance, and affect—how do cities transform once the sun sets?

We welcome empirical and conceptual contributions across disciplines and geographies.
