If Portuguese still “doesn’t make sense”…

It’s not you.
It’s the way you were taught.

Memorising verb tables.
Translating everything in your head.
Hoping one day it will just click.
It won’t.
Because that’s not how language works.

You don’t need more rules.
You need to understand how the language actually moves.

That’s why my students go from:
“I studied for months and nothing stuck”
→ to
“I can finally think in Portuguese.”

Not because they worked harder.
Because they stopped learning the wrong way.

Most methods keep you dependent.
Mine makes you independent.

So if you’re tired of guessing, translating and feeling stuck every time someone speaks to you—
✨ DM me “Casa Portuguesa” and I’ll show you a different way.

Follow if you're learning Portuguese and want it to finally make sense.

One of the biggest lies in language learning is this:
“If you study enough, it will eventually click.”

But most people are studying the wrong way.
They memorise vocabulary lists.
They drill verb tables.
They watch random videos hoping something sticks.
And then they feel frustrated because they still can’t follow a conversation at a café.

The problem is not effort.
The problem is the order of learning.
Language is not built by stacking words like Lego.

It’s built by understanding how ideas connect:
• how verbs carry meaning
• how prepositions link concepts
• how sounds change in real speech
• how sentence patterns repeat in everyday conversation

Once you start seeing those patterns, everything changes.
You stop translating in your head.

You start understanding first — and communication follows.
That’s exactly what I teach with the Bento Box Method: small pieces that work together so you can actually use Portuguese in real life.

Because knowing words is not the same as being able to communicate.

DM me “BENTO BOX” if you want to learn Portuguese in a way that actually works. ✨

Being a Portuguese teacher is only one part of my story.

I grew up in Lisbon with my dad owning a restaurant in Lisbon and me going there all the time for free meals ahaha

I always enjoyed the 40s through the 60s so I like to get curated stuff and mid-century style and aesthetics. I sometimes look like I came out of the 50s other times I look I just came out of bed... no in-between.

I am a night owl and I don't really like to get up early. I love coffee and crafts.

I am always keen on learning new things. I am now trying to improve my drawing skill. I used to make and design cakes, still do sometimes...

My curious my mind always gets me into trouble and I start more projects than I can handle but I always find a way of finishing them.

I still love science and before I did cooking school I was actually going to study applied math.
Fun right?

I had to learn languages for my cooking job. And then, what started as a necessity slowly became an obsession. I enjoyed learning and communicating with other people, learning about their cultures, the way they think, joke, complain, flirt, order coffee, and argue.
Eventually that curiosity led me back to Portuguese - the language I grew up with, but now seen through a completely new lens.

Today I teach Portuguese.

But really, what I teach is how to understand the culture, the habits, and the unspoken things behind the language.

Because learning a language is not just about speaking correctly. It's about belonging.
