Expressions to sound more natural 🌻
I am here to help you find your voice in French 🇫🇷

One tiny sound… and suddenly you insult a French person. 😅

Yes, really.

Most English speakers can’t hear the difference between these two French nasal sounds:

[ɔ̃] blond, bon, mon, long
[ã] blanc, dent, temps

To French ears, they sound completely different.

👂 Can you hear it?

Double your French vocabulary with this trick ‼️
Instead of learning verbs one by one… learn them in opposite pairs! Like best friends or enemies, however you prefer to see it 😃
Your brain remembers vocabulary much faster this way.

“The fattiest pastry in all of Europe” according to The New York Times!
Do you think it’s better than a croissant?

The Kouign-amann is a Breton word that literally means “butter cake.”
It comes from the Breton language (spoken in the region of Brittany in western France).

Save this video so you remember this pastry and try it when you visit France 🇫🇷

⬇️ Correction here ⬇️
1.J’ai beaucoup D’amis.
Beaucoup + DE (consonant) / D’ (vowel) + noun

We never use “beaucoup des”!

2. J’essaie de ne pas faire ça.
I try not to do that.

De + ne pas + verbe à l’infinitif

To translate this idea of “not to do something” use “ne pas + infinitive”.

Je décide de ne pas partir.
I decide not to leave.

3.J’habite aux États-Unis.
J’habite /Je vis … + aux + Plural country

4. Je préfère faire du sport.
Je préfère + Infinitive verb -
No need to use a preposition.

5. Je SAIS QU’il y a un problème.
“I know THAT….” translates to “Je sais QUE…”

6. Mes parents ME disent que…
Even if in English you say : My parents tell me… in French the indirect object pronoun “me” is placed before the verb.

7. J’habite ici depuis deux ans.
Use the present tense (j’habite) + DEPUIS to say that you’ve been living somewhere for 2 years (and you are still living there!)

8. Tous les trois ans…
Every three years.

Chaque is only used with a singular noun !
For plural - Tous les.

9. Je veux qu’il FASSE plus d’efforts.
We say — “I want that he makes an effort.”
→I want him to make an effort

! Vouloir que + subjunctive

10. Je ne sais pas CE QU’il fait.

Quoi - used in question (what?)
Ce Que - used in affirmation (...what… )
