Happytalism – The New Paradigm #4
For nearly a century, we have measured progress through one number.
GDP.
But here is the uncomfortable truth.
A country can increase GDP while simultaneously increasing inequality, loneliness, mental illness, environmental degradation and social fragmentation.
GDP measures economic activity.
It does not measure human flourishing.
And yet we continue using it as our primary benchmark of success.
This is the paradox of modern economies.
We have become better at generating wealth.
But not necessarily better at generating well-being.
The old paradigm asks:
How much are we producing?
Happytalism asks something different.
Are people genuinely thriving?
Because growth without well-being is not progress.
It is simply expansion without purpose.
