Looking back on the inspiring workshop led by Mo’min Swaitat, artist, archivist, and founder of the Palestinian Sound Archive, presented as part of in December last year.
Now more than ever, it is essential not to look away from Palestine and the ongoing humanitarian crisis affecting its people.
In this workshop, Mo’min invited us to explore archival practice as a decolonial methodology and an act of resistance, sharing stories about how these materials were created, circulated, and preserved. Through these sound archives, we reflected on the ways collective memory is built and sustained in the face of the events that have shaped the history of Palestine and neighbouring regions.
Revisiting this workshop is also a reminder of the importance of preserving memory, culture, and narratives that endure despite erasure, displacement, and violence.

A relembrar o incrível workshop conduzido por Mo’min Swaitat, artista, arquivista e fundador do Palestinian Sound Archive, que integrou a programação do Lisboa Mistura em dezembro do ano passado.
Agora, mais do que nunca, é essencial não desviar o olhar da Palestina e da crise humanitária que continua a afetar o seu povo.
Neste encontro, Mo’min convidou-nos a explorar a prática arquivística como metodologia decolonial e ato de resistência, partilhando histórias sobre a criação, circulação e preservação de registos sonoros palestinianos. Através destes arquivos, refletimos sobre a forma como a memória coletiva se constrói e resiste perante os acontecimentos que marcaram a história da Palestina e das regiões vizinhas.
Relembrar este workshop é também reafirmar a importância da preservação da memória, da cultura e das narrativas que persistem apesar do apagamento, da deslocação e da violência.
