After successfully opening our doors in Lisbon in September 2019, and after as one of our clients puts it "many magical sessions", SoMi like many start ups all over the world had to close our doors in March after just five months of "magic" due to the coronavirus outbreak.

To all the little people we had the privilege of engaging with, to the grown ups who believed in us, supported us, and who shared and still share our vision we want to say a big thank you. We are hopeful that we will resume in September 2020 but that depends on several factors outside of our control.

Fortunately this is not going to last forever and our doors will once again open and the "magic" will continue 🌈.

𝗔𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁 - and numbers confirmed with the virus have leapt to 112 – MPs have been stressing the absolute necessity to ‘fall in line and do what we’re told’.

Said the PSD’s Ricardo Batista Leite, a doctor by profession, this morning: “Cancel everything straight away: that party, that conference, the wedding, baptism, stag’s night. 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲. doing so you will ensure there is one more doctor, one more nurse, one more bed available for everyone who needs to go to hospital”.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗱𝗮𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲, 𝘀𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗽𝘀𝗲.

Compared with the rest of Europe, Portugal has the least number of intensive care beds per 100,000 inhabitants (4.2 against Germany, at the top of the scale with 29.2 – and a European average of 11.5). -19

For health and safety reasons given the evolving nature on the COVID-19 epidemic, the SoMi Centre will be closed for the next 14 days. Our sessions will resume after this time period pending, the evolution of the situation.

Here's what the kids got up to Desserts De Reves Desserts De Reves hosts regular cookie decorating workshops for kids at the Cafe. The next one is on the 21st of March.

13 year old Sofia Marques did a wonderful job leading the Holiday Program - Celebrating Differences. Sofia's dedication, hard work and commitment was a true pleasure to observe. The program finished off last friday on a positive and fun note with an exhibition for the parents and cookie decorating Desserts De Reves. Thank you to Lucy Geradin for coming in and doing a session on mindfulness with the kids, Grandma Fernanda for sharing her wisdom and Leda and Chef Igor from De Reves for the creative cookie decorating session.
