The Harmonium is a bellows-driven musical instrument originating from Europe but has become an essential element in Indian classical music. It is often used as accompaniment for vocals and in solo performances. This instrument produces rich sounds and stands out for its versatility in expressing melodic nuances in Indian music. Rupali Choudhury, with her passion for music, adds a unique dimension to playing this instrument.

Hindustani classical music is a musical tradition of India that has developed over centuries, with deep roots in ancient Vedic musical traditions. This musical genre is predominantly associated with Northern India and is one of the two main classical Indian traditions, the other being Carnatic classical music, prevalent in Southern India.

Characterized by a complex fusion of scales, rhythms, and emotional expressions, Hindustani classical music is performed in two main forms: vocal and instrumental. Key components include improvisation (raga) and rhythmic expression (tala). Musicians often employ a variety of instruments such as sitar, sarod, tabla, and tanpura to create a rich and engaging sonic experience.

The tradition of Hindustani Classical Music is passed down through generations, often through a rigorous guru-shishya parampara system, where knowledge is transferred from master to disciple. Additionally, Hindustani music is deeply rooted in emotional expression, exploring a wide range of feelings and moods, resulting in performances that are both intellectually rich and emotionally captivating.
