O QUE ACONTECE ÀS NOSSAS CASAS QUANDO HÁ UM SISMO?

Para além dos problemas estruturais que podem levar até ao colapso dos edifícios, podemos ter graves problemas não-estruturais. Para mostrar isso mesmo, fomos às compras. Comprámos todo o mobiliário que é necessário para decorar um quarto. Decorámo-lo com livros e objectos nossos ou oferecidos, como a viola, o troféu, um iPad, um computador e tantas outras coisas. Até um aquário com um peixe fez parte desta campanha.
Este quarto foi montado na mesa sísmica do LNEC e "abanámo-lo" com sismos reais.
Fizémos vários filmes para desenvolver uma campanha de comunicação do risco sísmico.

A team from Instituto Superior Técnico researchers have developed “Treme-Treme”, an online game designed to teach children (7-9 yrs) how to be prepared for an eathquake. The game is available in Portuguese, English and Italian.

PhD program 'Analysis and Mitigation of risks in Infrastructures'

Call for eight (8) scholarships are open until 31st of March 2015 for the second year of the international PhD program 'Analysis and Mitigation of risks in Infrastructures', to be held in Portugal (http://infrarisk.tecnico.ulisboa.pt). The program aims to analyse the main risks associated to several natural hazards which are more common or of greater importance. It involves a partnership between four universities (University of Lisbon, Instituto Superior Técnico - IST; Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto - FEUP; University of Minho and University of Aveiro), the National Laboratory of Civil Engineering (LNEC) and a research unit within IST (ICIST).
