🇵🇹 A 14.ª edição do Fórum de Lisboa reuniu, de 1 a 3 de junho de 2026, na FDUL, líderes políticos, académicos e especialistas de diversos países que debateram os desafios colocados pelas transformações tecnológicas, geopolíticas e institucionais que marcam a atual ordem global.
Sob o tema “Nova Ordem Internacional, Tecnologia e Soberania: Desafios Democráticos, Económicos e Sociais”, o evento promoveu uma reflexão interdisciplinar sobre o impacto da inovação tecnológica, da inteligência artificial, da soberania digital, da governança global e das transformações democráticas nas sociedades contemporâneas, reforçando a importância da cooperação internacional e da construção de soluções para um mundo em constante mudança.
📅 A próxima edição terá lugar entre 5 e 7 de julho de 2027, dando continuidade a este espaço de diálogo internacional, reflexão crítica entre a Europa, o Brasil e o mundo.

🇬🇧 The 14th edition of the Lisbon Forum brought together political leaders, academics and experts from various countries at FDUL from 1 to 3 June 2026 to discuss the challenges arising from the technological, geopolitical and institutional transformations shaping today’s global order.
Under the theme “New International Order, Technology and Sovereignty: Democratic, Economic and Social Challenges”, the event fostered an interdisciplinary reflection on the impact of technological innovation, artificial intelligence, digital sovereignty, global governance and democratic transformations on contemporary societies, reinforcing the importance of international cooperation and the development of solutions for a rapidly changing world.
📅 The next edition will take place from 5 to 7 July 2027, continuing this platform for international dialogue, critical reflection between Europe, Brazil and the wider world.

🇵🇹 Pedro Carneiro analisa a aplicabilidade dos direitos fundamentais nas relações entre particulares, abordando os seus pressupostos, os conflitos normativos que podem surgir e os efeitos da sua aplicação horizontal.
O estudo destaca ainda a maior resistência à aplicação direta dos direitos fundamentais quando já existe intervenção legislativa na matéria.

🇬🇧 Pedro Carneiro examines the horizontal application of fundamental rights in relationships between private parties, exploring its requirements, potential normative conflicts, and legal effects.
The article also highlights the greater resistance to horizontal application where the legislature has already regulated the relevant field.

🇵🇹 O LPL e o ICJP abriram um concurso internacional para o recrutamento de um(a) Investigador(a) Doutorado(a) em Direito, no âmbito do projeto europeu LIFE ECOFORCE – Environmental Crime Directive: Operational Framework for Optimised Response and Compliance Enforcement. 🇬🇧 LPL and ICJP have opened an international recruitment procedure for one post-doctoral researcher in Law within the framework of the European project LIFE ECOFORCE – Environmental Crime Directive: Operational Framework for Optimised Response and Compliance Enforcement.
Funded by the European Union’s LIFE Programme, the project focuses on the development of legal and institutional responses to prevent and combat environmental crime, promoting a more effective implementation of the Environmental Crime Directive.

🇵🇹 Temos o prazer de partilhar a publicação do Número Especial “Ecodesigning the Future: Legal Frontiers in the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation” na Journal for European Environmental & Planning Law (JEEPL).
Este Número Especial resulta das discussões iniciadas durante o evento “Ecodesigning the Future: The EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation”, organizado pelo Lisbon Environmental Law em dezembro de 2024.
Coeditado por Heloísa Oliveira, Kleoniki Pouikli e Feja Lesniewska, o Número Especial reúne contributos que analisam alguns dos desafios jurídicos mais urgentes e de governação suscitados pelo Regulamento da UE relativo ao Ecodesign de Produtos Sustentáveis (ESPR).
Os artigos exploram, entre outros temas, as dimensões conceptuais e constitucionais do ecodesign, governance da economia circular, a interação entre o ESPR e outras áreas do Direito da União Europeia, a proteção dos consumidores, governance dos produtos e a digitalização, bem como questões mais amplas de implementação, fiscalização e desenho regulatório no âmbito do Pacto Ecológico Europeu.

🇬🇧 We are pleased to share the publication of the Special Issue “Ecodesigning the Future: Legal Frontiers in the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation” in the Journal for European Environmental & Planning Law (JEEPL).
This Special Issue stems from discussions initiated during the event “Ecodesigning the Future: The EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation”, organised by Lisbon Environmental Law in December 2024.
Co-edited by Heloísa Oliveira, Kleoniki Pouikli and Feja Lesniewska, the Special Issue brings together contributions examining some of the most pressing legal and governance challenges raised by the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).
The articles explore, among other themes, the conceptual and constitutional dimensions of ecodesign, circular economy governance, the interaction between the ESPR and other areas of EU law, consumer protection, product governance and digitalisation, as well as broader questions of implementation, enforcement and regulatory design within the framework of the European Green Deal.

🇵🇹 Já temos o primeiro grande evento na agenda para o ano letivo de 2026/2027.
Nos dias 17 e 18 de setembro, o Lisbon Digital Rights, do Lisbon Public Law Research Centre, organiza os I Encontros Ibéricos de Direito Digital, subordinados ao tema “Regulação Digital — 10 Anos do RGPD”, reunindo académicos, especialistas e autoridades de supervisão de Portugal e de Espanha para debater alguns dos principais desafios atuais do Direito Digital.
O encontro contará ainda com um diálogo entre os Presidentes da CNPD e da AEPD, bem como com sessões dedicadas a jovens investigadores na área do Direito Digital.

🇬🇧 We already have the first major event on the agenda scheduled for the 2026/2027 academic year.

On 17 and 18 September, Lisbon Digital Rights, part of the Lisbon Public Law Research Centre, will host the 1st Iberian Digital Law Conference under the theme “Digital Regulation — 10 Years of the GDPR”, bringing together academics, experts and supervisory authorities from Portugal and Spain to discuss some of the most pressing current challenges (redundante; “pressing challenges” basta) in Digital Law.

The event will also feature a dialogue between the Presidents of the CNPD and the AEPD, as well as sessions dedicated to young researchers working in the field of Digital Law.

👉 Join us for two days of reflection, debate and exchange on the future of digital regulation and data protection in the Iberian Peninsula.

Consolidado como um espaço de referência para a troca de ideias, análise de tendências e reflexão crítica, o Fórum de Lisboa promove o diálogo sobre as transformações que estão a redefinir as instituições e o papel do Estado na sociedade atual.

Reunindo académicos, especialistas em legística, profissionais do sector jurídico e decisores públicos da Europa e da Ásia, a conferência abordará alguns dos temas mais relevantes da agenda internacional actual.
O evento é organizado pelo Lisbon Public Law Research Centre, pelo Instituto de Ciências Jurídico-Políticas, pela Macau University of Science and Technology, e pela International Association of Legislation.

Key topics will include the European legal framework for AI, Fundamental Rights Impact Assessments (FRIA), algorithmic discrimination, digital public administration, courts, and the protection of private rights.
