Find out what your child is interested in. You can do this by trying out different kinds of books and watch how your child respond to them..

HOW TO BUILD A CHILD'S SELF ESTEEM
Children with good self esteem grow up to become efficient, productive, responsible and reliable adults. Building a Child's self esteem starts from infant.
Here are some tips on how to build self esteem in children.
1. DON'T OVER PRAISE THEM: We all love to praise our children when they achieve something outstanding, over doing it make them relax their effort and make them feel perfect and egoistic.
2. LET THEM DO IT: Step back frequently and let them take responsibility for themselves, allow them to make simple decisions, choices, and also take risk. The essence of this is to let them know that there are consequences for every choice they make and to be responsible for their actions.
3.GIVE THE PUSH: Encourage them to pursue their interest fully and also make sure they follow to completion whatever they start.
4. NOT TOO YOUNG: Engage them in house chores even when they're still toddlers, they need to be able to demonstrate their competence and feel that their contributions are valuable.
5. LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY: When a Child fails or is struggling, they should be encouraged to keep going and to try again after each failure. During this period the child will become resilient, not afraid of failing and also affirms the parent's unconditional Love.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Having discussed the major causes of low self esteem in children, it would be fair enough to look at signs of Low self esteem that parents should look out for.
Just like the causes, signs of Low self-esteem are inexhaustible, thus we would only consider the common ones.
A child with low self-esteem would exhibit some of these symptoms
1. He makes critical comment about himself: these comment are usually his own opinion of himself. Comments like 'I am stupid', 'Nobody loves me', 'I'm good for nothing'. Infact, when a child begins to say things like these, the parent needs to take drastic measures to help him because he has already formed a negative opinion of himself.
2. He is overly helpful or never helpful at home: He will never say 'No' when asked for a hand because he feels he is not important and have no opinion of his own, so 'anything goes'. Sometimes this could also be the child's coping skills, that is, his own way of covering up for his shortcomings. The Child may never want to help not because he does not want to help but because he thinks he would fail so he does not want to try.
3. He Quit easily: He doesn't like challenging himself, he avoids task and when he tries, he give up at the slightest obstacle encounter.
4. He finds it difficult to accept praise or criticism
5. He becomes overly concerned about what people say or think about him.
6. He withdraws socially, losing or having loss contact with friends.
Parent should seek help when they notice these signs in their children, LOW SELF ESTEEM KILLS TALENT.
