"Statistical evaluation of Human well-being"
The rational and recent efforts of official statistics to produce a statistical evaluation of human well-being are presented. As well-being is a multidimensional concept, difficult and complex to define, its measurement needs a robust conceptual definition and a process that relates concepts to reality with the help of careful chosen and available indicators. This effort to measure and present statistical information about well-being at national level has also been a task for Statistics Portugal since 2013. Statistics Portugal releases each year data about the evolution of each well-being domain from 2004, indexes summarizing the evolution of Material living conditions and Quality of life and a global Well-being index. We will discuss the options followed to design these composite indicators.

Invited Lecture Klaus Schulling: "ROSETTA: the control aspects to rendez-vous, land and drill on a comet"
One of the most interesting places in our solar system was 2014/2015 moving between the orbits of Jupiter and Earth, when the European space probe ROSETTA had a rendezvous with the comet 67 P Churyumov-Gerasimenko. In November 2014 the PHILAE lander had been separated from the mother spacecraft and landed remotely controlled from a distance of 500 Mio km with high accuracy on the surface of the comet. The unconventional landing ended due to actuator malfunctions in a very interesting cliff, where the foreseen measurements were nevertheless well performed. ROSETTA accompanied the comet in near distance during the year 2015, including its passage of closest distance to the Sun in order to observe the development of its tail. This way sublimated pristine materials from the core of the comet could be characterized, providing information from the period when our solar system formed. Scientific journals like „Science“ and „nature“ selected the pioneering ROSETTA mission as scientific top event of the year 2014. In this presentation, the control aspects of this challenging and complex international mission will be emphasized and the fascination of space exploration will be illustrated by pictures from this bizarre comet.
