🏃♂️ 13 YEARS AGO TODAY — A DREAM 30 YEARS IN THE MAKING! 💪
October 13, 2013. Chicago Marathon. 2:56:53 at 50 years old!
Thirty years earlier, in 1983, I ran my first marathon at the NYC Marathon in 2:42:33 at age 20.
Then life happened. I walked away from competitive running for 21 years. When I returned, I spent nine years chasing a goal that once seemed so easy — breaking three hours in the marathon again.
There were setbacks, disappointments, and plenty of moments when I wondered if it would ever happen.
But on that October morning in Chicago, at 50 years young, it finally did! 🙌
Today, 13 years later, at 63, I’m no longer competing, but I’m still running and sharing my passion for the sport through coaching, helping others chase their own dreams and achieve their goals.
The lesson? Age doesn’t define your limits. Persistence, patience, consistency, and believing in yourself can take you further than you ever imagined.
Running has given me a lifetime of memories, lessons, and friendships. These days, the greatest reward is helping others discover what they’re capable of.
Some dreams just take a little longer. And sometimes, the dream simply evolves. ❤️
🇵🇹 Just a guy from Foz do Arelho who never stopped believing.
DREAMS HAVE NO EXPIRATION DATE! 🏃♂️🔥
