Back in time at the Muralhas de Faro—the ancient walls of Cidade Velha! 🏰✨ These fortifications date back to Moorish rule and played a key role in the Portuguese Reconquista when King Afonso III reclaimed Faro in 1249. Just below us lies the Arco de Repouso, said to be where the king rested after the battle.

During our Faro Sketchwalk, we pause here to take in a bit of history AND the views! Beyond the walls there are storks nesting - such a peaceful contrast to this once-defended stronghold 🐦✍🏼🌟

Welcome to Arco da Vila—one of Faro’s most stunning landmarks! ✨ This grand arch, built in the 19th century, stands on the site of an old medieval gateway, blending Moorish history with neoclassical flair. Walk through, and you’ll step straight into the charming streets of Cidade Velha.
