Coworking space

This July, we are opening our doors to anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful place to work or study.

Initially, our facilities will be available every Thursday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This initiative is part of our ongoing remodeling process, and July will be dedicated to testing this new way of expanding and utilizing our space.

Here, you will find everything you need for a focused and productive day:

Comfortable environment

Wi-Fi connection;

Desks and chairs set up for your comfort;

Coffe Machine;

Fridge.

Our goal is to adapt to you. Depending on the demand, we are completely open to extending or changing our operating days to better suit the schedules and priorities of our visitors.

Access to the coworking space will operate on a donation basis, starting at €5 per month. It will work much like we currently do with our Portuguese classes

Every friday we open our Community Space in Coimbra, Rua Quebra Costas no 6.

Some people bring Snacks. There is music and sometimes we take turns choosing it. Someone is always new. People donate what they can to Cover costs. One time there were 5 languages spoken simultaneously.

It's Community, not the cosy kind, the curated one. It's being annoyed, not returning, getting curious.

The work of understanding and connecting people is that. Talking about dancing styles and asking if someone wants a beer. Complaining about Visa appointments. Change is a sneaky little thing between people and it is rarely a debate that changes minds.

Come experience us.

"The crude comments, the looks, talking about bodies disassociated with the people inhabiting them – and the burning shame of “am I not f**kable enough? Am I overreacting? Why do I feel so bad, nothing happen – and oh my god, I DID provoke it” would be the colours my life would be steeped in. And this is not a coincidence. It is systemic violence, in this case: Patriarchy.

In a 2024 report, two german scientists studied racism in schools, and, specifically, the role shame plays in it (Ruff/Petrik 2024). While the psychological functions of shame and the over-expression of it as a result to violence is well researched, sociologists have a hard time expanding the scope we understand shame in – while Pierre Bourdieu already argued that shame is a very obviously measurable phenomena in the organization of societal injustice and difference, we just came around recently to ask what that means (if you want a nerdy paper on socialization and shame and Habitus and Marx, of course, Marx, then click here, where you find Bourdieu and shame, too)

Because shame, my little red face against the cold wall in a small city in the german summer heat, that is not a glitch in the system. It is systems working exactly as they should."

How about watching the World Cup at our place?

We’re well aware of the controversies surrounding this tournament, especially given the involvement of the United States one of the world's primary agents of war and anti-democratic influence. However, in the height of my own contradiction, I still find watching the matches fun, particularly within our diverse community of different nationalities.

We could try to catch the Friday and Saturday games or pick a specific match that everyone wants to see. It might be the "o***m of the people," but football and beer are always a great way to bring people together and create good stories.
