Congratulations, Beatriz!
Yesterday, June 1st, Maria Beatriz Barreiro defended her PhD thesis in Forensic Anthropology "Bright Clues: Fluorescence as a method for detecting skeletal remains with heat-induced changes". The work was supervised by Professor Maria Teresa Ferreira and Professor António Miguel Morgado.

As part of the International Museum Day programme, Marina Lourenço participated in the initiative “Museus a unir um mundo dividido”, organized by the Museu de Arte Pré-Histórica e do Sagrado do Vale do Tejo, in Mação.
On May 23rd, Marina Lourenço and Professor Silvério Figueiredo (Instituto Politécnico de Tomar) presented the lecture “Da África para o mundo, A Humanidade uma única espécie”.

Last Friday, May 22nd, the LFA welcomed students from the course “Bioarqueologia e Evolução Humana” of the “Mestrado Europeu em Arqueologia Pré-Histórica e Arte Rupestre” from the Instituto Politécnico de Tomar.
The visit was accompanied by members of our team and provided the students with an opportunity to learn more about the work developed at our lab.

Michela Amendola participated in the Florence Heri-Tech – The Future of Heritage Science and Technologies, International Conference, held in Florence from April 27–30.
On April 30th, she presented the work entitled “Bones Under the Lens: AI and Geometric Morphometrics for S*x Estimation and Asymmetry Assessment in Adult Iliac Auricular Surfaces,” co-authored by Michela Amendola, David Navega, Andrea Barucci, Francisco Curate, and Álvaro M. Monge Calleja.
