The PTSO is back!

The first Parents, Teachers, Students Organisation meeting of the year has taken place, kicking off another year of collaboration across our community.

Each year, parents and students elect one representative and one alternate per class, who become the main point of contact for their class. At this first meeting, the Parent Organising Committee (POC) was also elected to lead the PTSO's work throughout the year.

Meeting twice a term, the PTSO keeps the dialogue between school and families close and ongoing, because at Aprendizes, we believe a school is built together.

Our 12th-grade students investigated the evolution of plastic production in the USA and Europe from 1950 to 2015, and found that in both cases it has grown exponentially.

Using logarithmic linearisation, they calculated the characteristic coefficients of the exponential function and predicted how much plastic will be produced by 2050 if no measures are taken to reduce it.

The project had three stages: mathematical analysis of the model, graph creation and visual representation through posters.

Because learning Maths also means learning to read (and question) the world around us.

Yesterday, we celebrated Teacher’s Day, and we wanted to hear from the people who know our teachers best: our students.

From special memories and favourite moments to the little things that make a teacher stand out, our students had plenty to say.

A small reminder of the impact teachers have, both inside and outside the classroom.

Meet our Primary Student Council representatives!

Today, they had their first meeting and already brought their ideas, questions and requests to the Head of Section and her Assistant.

From the very beginning, our Student Council is giving students an active voice in school life and creating space for their ideas to be heard. And some requests are especially important… like having horror food at the Halloween party!

We’re looking forward to seeing what this group brings to the year ahead.

What if choosing a book could feel a little like choosing what to watch next?

Our Primary Head Teacher Eva Silva introduces LerFLIX, a new project designed to spark and encourage a love of reading.

Every month, teachers come together to curate new reading recommendations for Primary students, organised by grade and available in English and Portuguese as an additional language.

The LerFLIX mural can be found at the school reception, with new recommendations added every month. Next time you’re at school, take a moment to have a look and discover what’s been selected for your child.

A lovely afternoon at our BioMarket!

Families, students and team members came together to enjoy the market, meet local suppliers, discover businesses from our parent community and see the different entrepreneurial projects created by our students.

More than a market, it was an opportunity to spend time together, catch up and enjoy being part of our school community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the afternoon so special.

Good morning can be said in many different ways.

To celebrate World Languages Day on friday, our families were invited into the classrooms to share how they say “good morning” in their own languages.

The day began with our students singing in sign language, and continued with a wonderful exchange of languages, cultures and traditions.

We were so happy to welcome our parents into the classrooms and to share these moments together. Having so many languages and cultures represented within our community gives our students the opportunity to learn from one another every day.

Thank you to all the families who joined us and shared a little piece of their language with us.
