Generation of an induced pluripotent stem cell line (CSC-46) from a patient with Parkinson's disease carrying a novel p.R301C mutation in the GBA gene 27/05/2021

In 2018, Ana Marote, a former PhD student from BnML - Behavioral & Molecular Lab and ICVS, in collaboration with Dr Laurent Roybon’s lab at Lund University, published 3 reports in Stem Cell Research on the generation of iPSCs lines from Parkinson’s disease patients.

Opinião. Novos neurónios no cérebro humano adulto 09/03/2018

In our brain, new neurons are born everyday with the ability to participate in different dimensions of our behavior. Researchers from BnML - Behavioral & Molecular Lab have identified the presence of the protein AP2gamma within the hippocampus and described its role in regulating the generation of new neurons. Results of the study show how these neurons are relevant for inter-regional communication between brain regions and for cognitive functions, such as learning and memory. The study is now out in the journal Molecular Psychiatry, from Nature Publishing Group: http://www.nature.com/mp/journal/vaop/ncurrent/full/mp2016169a.html

Molecular Psychiatry - Adenosine A2A receptor regulation of microglia morphological remodeling-gender bias in physiology and in a model of chronic anxiety 14/10/2016

Interested in how the immune system participates in the pathogenesis of anxiety disorders? Researchers from BnML - Behavioral & Molecular Lab have collaborated with researchers from University of Coimbra to explore the cross-talk between pre-natal glucocorticoid exposure, remodeling of microglial cells and development of anxiety traits. The study is now out in the prestigious journal Molecular Psychiatry, from Nature Publishing Group. To read more follow the link! http://www.nature.com/mp/journal/vaop/ncurrent/abs/mp2016173a.html

Receberá nos dias 21, 22 e 23 duas alunas, do Colégio João Paulo II e do Colégio Luso Internacional de Braga, dando-lhes a oportunidade de experimentar a investigação pré-clínica em modelos animais de doença.

Postgraduate course “Epigenetics - from mechanisms to disease” 10/02/2016

Postgraduate course “Epigenetics - from mechanisms to disease” One major challenge in biology is to understand how epigenetic modifications contribute to transcriptional plasticity. This issue is of particular importance in the brain, where experience-dependent changes in gene transcription are essential for its normal activity. Indeed, loss-of-function of key…
