Just as muscles get stronger with physical training, neural pathways in the brain reshape when you learn a new language.

And, multilingualism is one of our founding principles in the EU.

On this day, 68 years ago, we established our official EU languages.

We started with four. We now have twenty-four!

From Dutch, French, German, and Italian, we’ve kept on growing, together. Through languages, we can build connections, discover new cultures, develop life-long friendships, and travel with ease.

So, no better day than today to start learning a new language 😉

On 30 September we will be celebrating . The theme this year is "A World Without Barriers; The Role of Language Professionals in Building Culture, Understanding and lasting Peace".

𝐀 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐑𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐥

I was fortunate to share the last 24 hours of my dearest Mother’s life. It has been an honour and a privilege to accompany her on her final journeys. Witnessing the love and respect shown by so many on these journeys has been both humbling and uplifting.

We will all share unique memories. I offer my thanks to each and every one who share our sense of loss. We may have been reminded how much of her presence and contribution to our national identity we took for granted.

I am also so grateful for the support and understanding offered to my dear brother Charles as he accepts the added responsibilities of The Monarch.

To my mother, The Queen, thank you.
