Friendship and Connection
A somatic body and soul dance proposal. I was working with a friend Hazel Rose to offer this as an event. Not certain on peoples reaction I am sending out a message to see if you wish to be a participant. This is somatic work , movement and sharing. We all need to understand how to be more upbeat in these times and shake off the collective unconsciousness that is all around us.
Send me a message if you are interested. A group of 6-8 people would be great. Either at the farm or online. Let me know.
Our bodies instinctively know what feels right or wrong, good or bad, yet we are often ignore these messages due to trauma, social conditioning, busy-ness and many other reasons. Being less able to tune in and respond to our body’s wisdom disconnects us from the truth and validity of own personal experience, makes authentic connection challenging and often separates us from others. In short, our society and lifestyles are driven and led by our heads and the body merely becomes the “brain taxi”.
We are wired for pleasure, yet this is only possible when we feel safe. The vagus nerve is the main nerve that informs us as to whether we are safe and is constantly scanning our environment and those around us to this effect. Using somatic experiencing we can tune into this “soul nerve”, bring awareness to our conditioned responses and learn to self and up regulate our emotional reactions. And through movement and dance we will reconnect with what feels good and right for ourselves. And then consciously move towards finding more joy, peace and Love within our lives yet without excluding any grief or sadness. By asking ourselves “does this feel right or that?” or “what happens when I move like this?” we can rebuild sensations of safety and trust within our own internal systems and grow our capacity to give and receive pleasure in all its forms.
How does your body want to move? What does your Soul wish to experience? By quietening the endless chatter of the mind and deepening our intuitive listening to our body we can learn to choose - what more would I like to feel? More joy? More freedom, connection, trust, coherence? More flow and celebration? Come join us and find out – the floor is yours.
Each session will involve a welcome introduction to the theme and check in, a session on somatic movement for self-regulation, time for some feedback and sharing then a movement dance session. We will end with time for you to settle, process and share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.
