من خلال اللعب يكتشف الطفل بيئته و يستكشف ذاته و يكتسب كثيراً من المعلومات التي يصعب اكتسابها من الكتب المدرسية، فاللعب هو مدرسة غير رسمية للعلاقات الاجتماعية. كذلك يكتسب اللغة، واصطلاحات وعبارات كأداة أساسية وهامة من أدوات التفاعل والتواصل.
